so if you've seen my art on tumblr or my website you know very well i draw by mouse. i've been drawing by mouse since i was maybe 11 or 12 (not that it was any good obviously) but because i have a lot of patience i finally got good within like. the last couple years of doing so. i very very rarely draw so it's not amazing like other mouse users, but i did crank out this one piece in march/april that i'm still very fond of.
yu-gi-oh has done so much for my artistic ability over the last few months, the characters are fun and colourful to draw and i literally think about them constantly

last week, two of my friends flew to my city for a local convention and one of them gave me their old drawing tablet that they haven't touched since they got an ipad. it's a wacom tablet, not that brands really mean anything to me because i have never, ever touched an art tablet in my life. holding a pen has always been incredibly painful to me since i was a kid because i apparently "do it wrong" i guess, so it was a struggle setting the tablet up and actually learning how to manage to draw. my first two sketches were traces of an official yugioh arc-v character sketch and the pressure was wonky and not very good 💧
but then my next two actual sketches on my own actually kind of popped off... it's such a small thing honestly i know it means nothing to literally anyone else but i'm extremely proud of the way they look and that (especially with the second one) i kind of captured the arc-v anime style a little.

it's just... huge to me because i never thought i would be able to physically do this. my hand hurts so bad but the drawings actually came out cute... i have the rest of the week off work so i think i'd like to keep drawing this way. i believe i will still use the mouse for the lineart tool but for sketching and learning how to colour i think this new tablet will really help me out a lot
