why is everything rounded and padded?

Are people afraid of corners? Why babyproof every corner of a website?

No, thank you. It's excessive. It doesn't even look cool or interesting. Not even the buttons are interesting. Where is the shine? Where is the '3D' look? The icons, the buttons, pretty much every aspect of the design is plain and boring (looking at you, Youtube).

But, seriously... why so much padding?
