Hello and Welcome! This is...
How to make a hologram!
You will need a few things
- Tape
- A few boxes(they can be shoe boxes)
- Something to project (specifically either your phone or tablet)
- A reflector (More on the specifics soon)
Warning!
This isn't going to be big at all, it's small actually but if that's fine with that then continue!
A reflector
A reflector should be a plastic, specifically hard or a plastic sheet, that can reflect well. So no bowls. I used My sewing kit container. The best way to is to test if it can reflect. To test it you put it at an angle and see if you can see the reflection clearly without major warping or distortion.
The shape can affect it too. It should be a rectangle to get the most space, but this can be altered to your preferences if you are using a plastic sheet. however, mine was shaped like a rectangle and had flat sides so it ended up being easier to hold up in the box.
Box and Tape
Next, you get your boxes. I used one of my shoe box covers, if you are using a plastic sheet you may need to use two to have a steady balance if the tape doesn't work, and cut one of the sides. This is mostly so it has a flat base to stand on, especially if they are two different box covers from different companies.
Next with your reflector against the box, you will put tape on to the reflector (Make sure the reflector is at an angle) and connect it to the box. Make sure the box covers a long way is facing you and is not up. But it on both sides for extra stability. Mine looks like this
But I imagine if you are using a plastic sheet instead it would look more like this:
(When I drew this I forgot to put the tape on the other side but please do that for balance!)
Projection
First, make sure you have a video that is hologram-ready. There is a lot and you can even learn to make your own!
Lastly, you put your phone or tablet under. But make sure it's reversed. When you look at it, it will be upside down for you, but on the projection, it'll be correct. I also suggest putting it on the phone or table at a slight angle upwards with a pencil or flat marker like this:

If you want it to be less obvious you can use a small box that fits in and a paper on top that covers the top.
