a man, a woman, & the corpses of 1000 evil men.

where do i even start this post.

20 years ago, My Chemical Romance released 'Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge.' This album changed MCR's career, and the world along with it. This record with a rather gruesome story about a man needing to murder to return to the love of his life, only to find out so much along the way (including the fact hes gay! who knew) is something that has impacted me so much in the 18 years of my life.

I was actually named after the title track. My mother is also a huge My Chem fan, and while i'm not here to tell all of you her trauma, their music helped her while she was going through her separation with my birth father. She chose to name me after 'Helena', more specifically the girl from the music video. As I grew up and she played their music, Gerard Way's voice essentially became like a father's to me. However, I wouldn't really get into them until middle school.

7th Grade was a hard year for a lot of people, I am not special in this case. I went through really bad relationships, friendships, honors classes, the whole 9 yards. I remember trying to find a song my mom played for me as a kid (this isnt important; it was the sharpest lives) and it all came flooding back. I instantly went and listened to all of their music. But, I kept coming back to Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge.

Just learning about this album, the people featured on it, the story, the story of its recording. is all fascinating and just adds more to what this album means to others and myself. It genuinely has changed so many lives and I feel it will continue to change lives forever.

Genuinely, from the bottom of my heart, thank you MCR. I literally would not be the person I am without you.
