In the end it was a waste of my time, because they consider iPods to be “obsolete” now so they will not replace a dead one.
Whatever. A word of advice to you: don’t bother going to Apple for device repairs if you’re out of warranty, always go to those third party repair shops that charge way less and look really sketchy. It’s in their best interest to actually fix your device instead of just forcing you to buy a new one.
