Goth fashion and subculture 4 baby bats

The goth subculture is a musical and political movement that emerged in the late 70s.

Now, obviously in order to he goth, you gotta listen to the music and have the political mindset (Antifa, anti-consumerism, left-leaning, etc.)

However, I noticed that on Tiktok, lots of people seem to make it look like some aesthetic and saying how ‘expensive’ it is to dress goth or be goth, it isn’t. People often forget the political part too. You don’t have to look like those modern trad goths to be ‘goth.’

Aesthetic = simply the look

Subculture = A smaller group with unique beliefs and values

Back then, many goths just wore whatever they had and often incorporated other colours like red or purple. It doesn’t have to be just black! Instead of bold, big eyeliner, sometimes they would put on simple eyeshadow and lipstick. That’s it. 

If you’d like to dress more gothic as a baby bat, look at your thrift store or online thrift shops! Look for stuff like stockings, maybe some necklaces, long skirts or pants, etc. you can also do your hair to make it more interesting (tutorials can be found on YouTube).

Even after all of that, you don’t have to dress hotj to be goth! Its musical and political as mentioned before.
