Operation: True Love

Operation: True Love is a manhwa/webtoon revolving around the life of highschool girl Shim Su-ae, in her world your popularity depends on your love points* but she has 0/0. Although the manhwa has my favourite character (Baek Dohwa) in it I will have to say the story itself isn't that interesting and some of the characters are generic.

* Love points declare how much love you will recieve if your life time, you can gain them whenever someone feels something surrounding the feelings of love for you.



SHIM SU-AE

Shim Su-ae is an average highschooler with a boyfriend (Minu Kang) who doesn't really treat her well. One day when she makes plans with Minu she catches him cheating with her younger sister (Yu Ra-im) and that's when things change. Su-ae finds a jellypop phone in her locker and she comes to realise that she has a stalker whose trying to killer her (Haru Marang). This is due to the fact that she has 0/0 love points which is considered a bug in Haru's system. This overall seems very interesting but the manhwa poorly executed it from the way it seemed like they forgot about Haru sometimes. In my personal opinion Shim Su-ae is the average "relatable" female lead who is actually not relatable at all (quirky, childish average looking girl who wins the hearts of hot cold guys who grow a soft spot for her). That itself is already very generic and is a common theme in manhwas. She's honestly very annoying and lacks proper communication skills and milks the fact that there's a second male lead although her choice of dating the male lead has been very obvious since the start. They never even gave the second male lead a chance with her whatsoever so I see no reason why to give her such terrible communication skills when it comes to the male leads and her relationship. 



GO EUNHYEOK

Eunhyeok is the male lead of the manhwa and is of course generic as well. He's the boring, cold black haired male lead who gains a soft spot for the female lead. Not to mention the fact that he of course has to be rich. A ton of romance manhwas add male leads like him and it honestly gets so tiring, there's no creativity at all when it comes to making these characters yet fans enjoy it everytime like it's the best media to grace this earth. I personally just find Eunhyeok very annoying and hate his jealousy issues and cockiness (he needs to get a grip). I hate the fact that people ignore the fact that he treated Su-ae like shit when they first met and ignored Minu's toxic behaviour towards Su-ae. (You should clock your friend on their bad attitude, especially if its towards their partner instead of looking down on their partner). I do think his backstory was alright but the fandom milks it and never really posts anything sad about other characters, as to be expected from manhwa fans. He's also severely overrated in the fandom and his fans will go as far as to send death threats to you if you don't ship Su-ae with him or like his character. I've also seem Eunhyeok fans make HATE ACCOUNTS based around Dohwa* fans. I think his fans are honestly a little crazy and need to calm down, hes a fictional character afterall.

*Dohwa is the second male lead.



BAEK DOHWA

Dohwa is the second male lead, although he is definitely more interesting than the male lead I can't deny the fact that he is generic aswell. He is the popular, broke blonde second male lead who is more interesting than the male lead and can treat the female lead better but doesn't get picked. I love Dohwa so much and I hate the fact that the manhwa as of right now is literally making him miserable instead of making Su-ae communicate to him her boundaries now that she's dating Eunhyeok? I don't see what the author is trying to do with Dohwa considering the fact they made it so obvious that he didn't have a chance in the first place. It's honestly just a piss take that they're making him miserable after everything he's been through. For starters he has to miss school just to work several jobs so that he can get by and he has an absuive father (Yes Eunhyeok has a bad father but Dohwa literally gets beaten up by his father to the point he is lying on the ground bleeding). He also has to deal with people making lavish rumours about him so people only want to become his friend for the supposed money he has just to get mad when they find out it isn't true. It got to the point that he said he would rather die than tell people the truth about him. I'm hoping things will look up for him now that he's been offered a job that will pay a lot and he took up the offer. I personally believe the manhwa should just leave him be rather than try to milk him for a ship that will never be canon. 

 
SOOHYUK

Soohyuk is the ship between Su-ae and Eunhyeok (From the unofficial names Soo-ae and Eunhyuk). I really dislike the ship due to the fact that it was so obvious it was going to be endgame yet the manhwa tried to act like there was really a love triangle (Spoiler alert, there never was one. Just Dohwa's one sided feelings for Su-ae). I highly dislike the fact that they've made several chapters based around Su-ae wanting to kiss Eunhyeok as if they haven't already kissed several times before. Why is she acting all shy and "cute" over a kiss now? I really don't get it at all and I can't fathom the idea of the two acting like this the entirety of season 2. I'm severely disappointed at the fact that their fans can't accept other peoples opinions of not liking the ship or shipping the characters with other ones and genuinely act disgusting over it. I also find it stupid that their fans hate Dohwa for "getting in the way of soohyuk" when it's been obvious he never had a chance with Su-ae in the first place. I can get disliking Dohwa but I can't get them hating him over stupid reasons like that.



SOOHWA

Soohwa is the ship between Su-ae and Dohwa (From her unofficial name Soo-ae and his official name Dohwa). I personally don't know how to feel about the ship, I just don't really think that Su-ae deserves to get with Dohwa if her and Eunhyeok do break up. She had her chance and didn't take it more or less. I think the fans of the ship are overall very kind and they make really cute ship edits of the two (it's unfortunate the amount of hate they receive from soohyuk fans because of the edits though). There just isn't really much for me to say about the ship if the fans are nice but the only romance in it is one sided..
