Hello!
Every game I play and movie I watch that has a place based on slavic culture, it is mostly based on Russia. I think that dumbing down the most populous group in Europe to one country is not nice. Since I'm from Poland, I wanna give you all some nice tunes to try out; I'll keep this mostly surface level, though.
Lady Pank
A band founded in 1981, it is a rock titan here. Most radio stations do still play some of their songs, and they are one of the most well known bands, even to younger people. They have two platinum and six gold records. I'd reccomend their self-titled to start; it features some of their most well-known stuff, such as "Mniej niż zero", "Kryzysowa Narzeczona" and "Zamki na piasku". The best song off the album is "Du du".
Paktofonika
Undoubtedly one of the fundamental groups of old-school hip-hop. Their flow, grimy lyrics and overall aesthetic are amazing. During a time of socio-economic turmoil, they wrote introspecitve lyrics and became legends in the eyes of many. I reccomend Kinematografia as a starting point. The song "Jestem bogiem" is still a major bop to this day.
Zbigniew Wodecki
Our Sinatra - need I say more? An angelic voice, masteful lyrics and grandeur make our ears become trapped in a transe of powerful orchestra, harmonious melodies and nostalgia. No matter what song, you are bound to have a good time. My favorite of his must be "Zacznij od Bacha".
Myslovitz
If you have ever listened to My Bloody Valentine, this is a band inspired by them. Sad, melodic and word heavy songs that make you emotional. Amazing voice and well produced as well. I'd say a good starting point is Miłość w Czasach Popkultury. Out of all of these suggestions, I'd reccomend having a dictionary open to translate their lyrics; I recccomend this to every suggestion, but this is where you might have a better enjoyment of the music.
That's it for now, comment if you want a part two. See you on the flipside,
KBKS

The Polish Metal scene is well known for having many high quality bands and has only gotten more prominent over the years, methinks. I think I remember reading somewhere sometime that it used to have a very strong Punk/Hardcore scene as well.

In the 90s there were in fact a lot of punks, so much so that fights between them and skinheads were commonplace. Subcultures mattered a lot, but that dissapated after the late 2000s. Our metal scene is apparently good, although I don't listen to metal.
