Album Review : GIZMOLOGIES

Gizmologies is an album released by skydev on june 4th, 2024 (today!!). It is an collection of 10 VGM-inspired instrumental tracks, (though exists a demo album as a bonus, where most tracks do contain vocals.) I am quite the fan of skydev's discography, he is always able to deliver these astoundingly intricate yet simple soundscapes full of so many different emotions. Within Gizmologies, you will find sounds ranging from retro vgm samples to these stunningly realistic sounding instruments that are all arranged together to form these iconic and memorable songs. I applaud so many aspects of each of these tracks, it is such a pleasant experience. You will feel many different emotions throughout these tracks, going from funky and upbeat basslines paired with wonderful jazzy chord progressions to gorgeously flowing piano arpeggios tucked between butter smooth strings. This brief review doesn't even begin to summarize skydev's new work. I highly recommend this album to VGM fans especially and those who appreciate great compositions.
