Normal.
Normal a powerful word with little to no meaning. For many it means lacking problems, living well, and other positive things. But being normal is not positive. Normal is neutral. Normal is devoid of soul, devoid of life.
When was the last time you met a normal person, who you found memorable in any way? Chances are, you haven't. Sure there's friends, co-workers, classmates, extended family members... but no one who can't be forgotten with time. Being normal is a crux. It's a stamp of genuine and utter basicness. A normal person just blends in with the rest of the crowd, becoming practically invisible. Just another part of the background noise in the eternal TV-static of life.
Now ask yourself, can you remember the last abnormal person you met? Probably yes. Whether it was someone with an abnormal sense of style, an abnormal way of communicating, an abnormal taste in music... there's a good chance that person will stick in your mind longer than the average normal person you meet.
And yet, being normal is seen as a necessity. It's a requirement to be accepted into the fold. There is no real value in being normal. The only value of being normal is predictability. Being normal makes you easier to convince. Easier to persuade. Easier to control.
The big guy desperately wants you to be normal, they want to be able to tell you what to do. Who to vote for. What to buy. Where to work.
That's why fringe groups in culture and other minorities are labeled as "abnormal". Those who don't follow the crowd are hard to control. They do what they want, what they think is best. Not what the man thinks is best for himself. Black people, queer people, and alternative people are less likely to follow their commands. So they're labeled "abnormal".
To be normal, is to be forgotten. But to be abnormal, is to be forever. Written about in history books, spoken about by strangers, immortalized in media.
If you want to be remembered when you're dead and gone, don't be normal.
