OC help - should I do this? Possible insensitive character

hello, im having a bit of trouble with this problem. so i have an oc who is an alien and they, literally, have two separate brains, each with a different personality. i think that this does sound quite similar to DID, and i am not trying to write a character with DID as it is a sensitive subject that i dont know anything about, and my lack of knowledge could result in an offensive character. however i do want to keep this 'two brains' idea as it would be an important part of their story. essentially they have two different brains in their head that occasionally swap out for eachother, and these two brains hate eachother. the character was naturally born with two separate brains, it isnt a result of trauma or anything. they also dont swap eachother out due to a trigger or anything like that, its more that it either sometimes just happens or there are moments where they are at a constant 'battle' for dominance over the other. whichever brain is 'dominant' over the other is the one which is in control over the character.

however my question is, should i make this character be like this? it is NOT my wish to offend anyone or make anyone upset with this character at all. so, could anybody tell me if its a good idea or not? many thanks. :)
