Spoilers to a nearly 20 year old book series
I recently found books 1-4 at an antique shop for $10. It’s probably the best deal on books I’ve found in forever ever since my library let me buy like 15 of theirs for $1. I’ve already read most of the book series but I gave a majority of what I read 5 stars for a reason, so it almost makes complete sense to buy the full Fugitives part and one of the Protectors.
The thing about Max is that a little later on in the series, she develops a love interest. It’s pretty obvious as to who she develops a liking to, so I’m not sure why I was so surprised, (and still read on the first time) but once it got to the, uh, kissing during the confusion and uncertainty stage, that’s when I got a little bit icky. It felt, dare I say, incesty? It was just the way she worded their relationship both before and during the whole thing is what gave me this vibe, I guess.
Even though I’m not so sure on how I feel about the romance part of this book series, I still love it. It’s action packed, and humorous, and Max is a total girlboss and I aspire to be on her levels of badass. Maybe it gets better once I get past #6. Who knows! If I can get my hands on physical paperback copies of books #5-9, I would def be ecstatic. Ebooks are not easy xDD
