MYTHOLOGY OF ANDROMEDA BECAUSE YES

ok so one of the constellations is andromeda and im pretty sure its the brightest of all constellations since its closest anyway

the andromeda constellation is also known as "the chained maiden" basically andromeda was an ethiopian princess and the daughter of queen cassiopeia (a constellation) and king cepheus (a constellation). one day cassiopeia was boasting about andromedas beauty being better than the nereids which are good looking sea-nymphs so this angered the sea god poseidon or neptune depending on if ur more familiar with greek or roman versions of this story ANYWAY

sea god sent his pet cetus (a constellation) to lay waste on ethiopia which i assume means just shit on ethiopia or something. cepheus was advised that the only way to save ethiopia (his kingdom) was to sacrifice his daughter to cetus. so andromeda was chained to a rock by the sea waiting for the monster to kill her (shitty dad award!!).

BUT she was rescued by perseus (a constellation) and they got married and lived happily ever after so yayyyy!!.

also i find it funny that in their constellations, andromeda has her husband and her mother in hers but not her fathers. cassiopeia has both her daughter and her husband (also cassiopeia has interesting mythology too), and cepheus has his wife but not his daughter in his constellation, like it makes sense since he fucking sacrificed his daughter so i feel like maybe their relationship may of been a bit gone
