The Marías released their second official studio album !!
as you can probably tell... i love the marías. i went to the CINEMA tour back in 2021 and it was one of my favorite concerts ever. since they announced the release of this album i was more than excited, basically the release of this album has been marked on my calendar for the past three months.
like usual they didn't disappoint, their style is so present in each song yet they've managed to bring new elements in their songs. if only was so much more jazz influenced than their other songs and even then marias voice just carries it in such a gentle and fluid way.
i don't think im in anyway a music critic or anyone to comment on music in a formal way but i do think that everyone perceives music in different ways, and thats what makes music one of the most wonderful art forms--coming from a painter. the marías had said that this album was meant to focus on the feelings of heartbreak and overcoming that, using the theme of being underwater throughout their album is just such a beautiful way of encapsulating the heartbreak and bittersweetness that happens at the end of a relationship.
i fear this is my current aoty (album of the year) with underdressed at the symphony at a close second. with clairo and men i trust also releasing albums this year i can only say that i am more than excited for this year!
thats all for now,
xoxo ant
p.s. no crazy life updates except im got a gym membership and i am in love with my simple and calm life. i may be at a plateau right now but there is peace and love within that; a plateau isn't necessarily a bad thing rather its just a sign that there isn't chaos surrounding me!
takeaway of this? live your calm and live your chaos
