looking for high quality firewire card or other ways to get camcorder footage to computer

wanting to get back to using my camcorder but the firewire card i bought for my pc is awful quality. any recommendations or a modern solution rather than battling with old hardware and software? the camera is a panasonic pv-dv203 if that helps at all.
