HAIIIIII. I love Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun.
------CLANCY/LORE SPOILERS BEWARE------
- Overcompensate: A classic. One of their best singles to drop. GREAT opening to an album. "SAHLO FOLINA". "IIIIII FLYYYYY BYYYYY", "SOUL CORAZON". Music video was great, very lore related. THE ENDING w/ him seizing someone :o
- Next Semester: My favorite out of the singles. "START FRESH NEXT SEMESTER". The meaning of Tyler's attempt during college is so deep and real i love it. UKELELE UKELELE UKELELE. I wish i was in the music video :(
- Backslide: blurryface vibes. NED. Black blurryface paint (hello??). Chorus hits. The call back to Saturday!!! "Kinda wish I never did saturday"
- Midwest Indigo: Regional At Best vibes. Pop Punk drums oh yeah!! The song fits the vid, which is pleasing. THE SNOW?? Icy? (Scaled and Icy/Livestream)??? Jim Dun! (Josh's dog). JENNA!!!!! (Tyler's wife).
- Routines In The Night: Dang, the opening so good. BLURRYFACE. FAIRLY LOCAL?? (HELLO??) "Ill keep my eyelids up no matter what" (The Outside callback: "Ill tape my eyes, so I dont fall asleep again") The beat is so catchy. YELLOW FLOWERS. BISHOPS, BISHOPS, BISHOPS, BISHOPS. Blurryface comeback!!!!
- Vignette: Ok synth. "PROMISESSSSS". Zombies? Kinda creepy vibes on the mv. THE BRIDGE SO RELATABLE. "NO NOT ME ITS FOR A FRIEND, DENIAL" BHABHABHABHSAH Josh's face in the end.
- The Craving (Jenna's Version): AWWWWWWW ITS ABOUT JENNA. So much better than the single version. Melody is so cute. The video for the single version is very deep if u think about it (putting so much effort into something, just for it to be disregarded). I HATE U TYLER thnks fr making me feel single.
- Lavish: ok eat it up. They're so dapper. Such a saucy bouncy song. I wonder how long it took to film the video. "I SEE YOUR PROBLEM IS YOUR PROCTOLOGIST, GOT BOTH HANDS ON YOUR SHOULDER WHILE YOU'RE BOTTOMLESS"????? TYLER. ROBERT. JOSEPH. Napoelon :)
- Navigating: (lore spoilers) WHAT THE FUCK. Bouncy BASS song. Sounds like blurryface AND trench. BANDITOS, BANDITOS, BANDITOS. Ned's antlers. Clancy's mask from Overcompensate. WHAT THE FUCK. JOSH FUCKING DUN. TORCHBEARER. So basically, the last time Clancy saw the real Josh (Torchbearer) was in Levitate, and the Josh that was with him during Scaled and Icy was just a figment of Clancy's imagination, who was lifting him up (kinda like a guardian angel). THEY RLY PULLED A MY BLOOD!!! (My blood instrumental in the end!!)
- Snap Back: Long hair Tyler lol. Oooo raspy deep vocals?? Ok. CAR RADIO REFERENCE IN THE VID. "its a BACKSLIDE". "Oh its you." Bridge is beautiful. The song sounds like Vessel and RAB and the Judge. I like how the lyrics kinda goes along with Backslide. The car in the end reminds me of the Next Semester vid.
- Oldies Station: FPE jacket. Aww lyrics. Lol Josh moving the camera. "When darkness grows on you, push on through" (I cried) Oh camera man fell and died lol. Jenna! I like the BTS portion of the vid. I love tyler and josh's friendship.
- At The Risk Of Feeling Dumb: Intro reminds me of Slowtown. Why does Tyler look so tall in the music video?? Ok eat I like it. "DROP DROP DROP" Beat is so catchy. YEAAAA DRONE SHOT. One of my favs.
- Paladin Strait: (HEAVY LORE SPOILERS) WOW. Ok UKELELE. Sounds like House of Gold?? A lot calmer than I expected. I like the ascending mysterious chords. I could make an emotional fandom edit to this song. LONG PAUSE HUH??? IS IT OVER??? WHY IS THE PAUSE SO LONG??? BROOOO... More ukelele. WHAT. THE. FUCK. Banditos, NICO, Tower. WHAT THE FUCK. "So PROUD, So FEW, So EMOTIONAL". "HELLO CLANCY". BLURRYFACE, BLURRYFACE, BLURRYFACE BLURRYFACE, BLURRYFACE. This is the final showdown. Clancy X Nico final battle. IM SPEECHLESS.
Final thoughts: WOW. I love it. They topped Trench. Might be my #1 top album rn (Def top 3). A little disapoint bc i thought it was gonna be way more lore related, not like 3 lore related songs lol. I love how personal the lyrics are. The instrumentals = Twenty One Pilots at its core. I love you Josh Dun. I like how the album cover is red, because the banditos are rebelling against the bishops, while also protecting each other (hence the yellow). (Can't wait for the Paladin Strait mv). My current first listen favs: Routines In The Night, At The Risk Of Feeling Dumb and Paladin Strait.
