I've had to pick up one of Edgar Allen Poe's short stories for an analysis paper for my English course this week and it was called "The Cask of Amontillado".
I was a bit surprised at first since back in high school, I also read one of his works and the first thing that came to mind concerning Edgar Allen Poe was that old work's hard cover (my copy of the work was physical) and its ominous color-palette. It was a blend of forest-green and lunar-black ("lunar" as in the specific shade of black that reflects a night sky).
For the life of me, I can't really seem to remember that exact work's title at the moment, but it kind of stuck with me ever since.
As for The Cask of Amontillado, I seem to kind of like it so far, especially its imagery and an almost central application of psychopathy, as if there was a lot of events happening and only the protagonist's motives make up a few of his reasons. The rest is left off or shoved beside due to a sort of lack of evidence before-hand.
