Saw this one yesterday:
Give this one a 6/10.
Fun Score: 7/10
Serious score 5/10
My notes:
- Why does Fury become American as soon as she hits puberty for no reason.
- Calling a guy Scrotus was funny I won't lie.
- Just Let People Be Disabled. It would have been cool to see someone be disabled AND badass.
- Random Romance with Mad Max Solid Snake. Apparently, I wasn't the only one to think so. Hideo Kojima agrees.
- Some of the shots and transitions feel like those moments in video games where you transition from being in a cutscene to playing the game. I don't know if this is a positive or negative. Will probably decide this on a rewatch.
- How did a NON-INDUSTRIAL apocalyptic society get the resources to make MODERN wind turbines for clean energy... Just seems silly. Make a windmill like a normal person...
Do I recommend?
For a Mad Max movie... it's resting on its laurels a bit. The symbolism was on the nose and some stuff didn't make sense. But I also understand it was restricted by being a prequel.
For an action movie... Hell yea punch action sequences and inventive combat. Romance arc seemed silly in this film. Could have been so awesome to just kick ass together.
Anything to watch out for?
If you HATE maggots and flies this ain't for you. There's some sexually predatory scenes but they are light and are more of an implication than anything. There's no kissing or sex scenes. There is dismemberment and gore as expected of Mad Max as a franchise.
Have fun! :3c
