we go shopping

im not that good at telling stories so sorry if this is kinda shit 😭

so me and my childhood bestie went to this place called central hall (Centralni Hali) in Sofia, Bulgaria. central hall is a very old building known for being an emporium/market throughout the years. the building was designed my bulgarian architect Naum Torbov and it opened its doors to the public in 1911. it has been closed down and renovated like three times since it was built, once in the 50s, a second time from 1987 to 2000 and a third time from 2022 to 2024.
this time it was renovated with the fundings of a project organised by kaufland, a large german supermarket chain in bulgaria. it was opened to the public on may 23 2024 (so like three days before we visited lol).

heres a photo of the outside of the building that my bestie took =3 (not much is visible but still lol)

and heres the inside! the building has three floors: the first floor was turned into a kaufland chain instead of a market like it was in ye olden days. we didnt get anything from the supermarket bcos it was very overcrowded and we didnt want to waste time waiting on a queue for 20 minutes.

the second floor is built like a terrace with a few food courts, overlooking the first floor. we decided to eat sushi for lunch. that was the first time i had ever had any proper sushi. i kinda fumbled the interaction with the guy that had to take our order tho it was fucking embarrasing😭. the names of the sushis were hard to remember and i kinda messed them up but also the guy wasnt bulgarian so idk if he understood me completely. i guess we both fumbled 😔.
we got some sushi with chicken and the other ones were with tuna i think? idk. i liked it a lot and im kinda craving sushi again rn while writing this. except the wasabi. wasabi sauce can go fuck itsself its DISGUISTING. like i love spicy stuff and i can handle it pretty well, but wasabi is made from japanese horseradish instead of peppers and ig thats why it tasted to different.

ALSO THE THING THAT PISSED ME OFF AB THIS IS THAT IN ORDER TO GET TO THE ESCALATOR THAT LEADS TO THE TERRACE U NEEDED TO GO THROUGH THE CHECKOUT OF THE SUPERMARKET WHICH MEANT THAT U HAD TO LITERALLY BUY SMTH FROM THERE IN ORDER TO GO UP LIEK WHAT. so uh anyway we just went back through the supermarket and found a way up without having to buy anything. we passed like two security guards but they didnt pay attention to us. fuck ur capitalist bs kaufland :]
the third floor was underground. it also had some food courts here and there but there was also some old parts of the building preserved behind these glass railings. it was basically organized like an underground interactive museum with some places to eat. the expositions there were based around the history of the building and the area surrounding it.
(i have some videos of it but i have no idea how to upload them if anyone knows pls tell me so that i can put them here)

so uhh yeah that was it thanks for reading :]
