THERE WILL BE SPOILERS FOR THE BRAND NEW GARFIELD MOVIE AHEAD!!!!!
OMGGGGGGGG!!!!! Ok so I saw the new Garfield movie!!!! My rating is probably a 9/10! I really liked the story, the animation was beautiful, and I just felt so touched!!! Thi might sound corny, but IDC!!!! So the overall arch of the movie was Garfiled meeting his dad and gettting to know him right? Well OH MY GOD I WAS NOT REAADYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!! 😿😿😿😿 Its such a realistic approach to such a sensitive topic??? Like I almost fucking cried dude. So garfield is stuck with the idea that his dad just abandoned him, and like tha his dad is a good for nothing jerk, but then he gets to know him and holy shit????? Ok so his dad explains that he was trying his best to provide a good life for garfield when he was a kitten, but when he saw garfield with John, and how much John could provide, he decided to let him live with him. It was such a subtle thing, but big as well. The fact that the dad was able to accept life without garfield if garfield was happy was just UGH!!! 😿😿 I mean I was watching the movie and sitting there, thinking, "Im garfield, and my dad is Vic.." (vic=garfields dad, not vic fuentes) And when it got to the last part, garfield told him like I cant really remember specifically, but he forgave him, and said sorry for thinking he was a bad dude. And the dad said "Im sorry for dragging you into my problems." And I fucking felt that. And another thing, when garfield and vic were about to be dropped off of the bridge, garfield apologizes for his rescue plan not working, and then his dad says, "You gave me a second chance, thats all that matters." AND MY HEART SANK. That movie gave me a new perspective on like my own dad? I mean things have been better than shit in the past, and hearing it from one of my fave characters really made me think, like, Im so lucky to have the chance to even TALK to my dad over the phone! And I also have a better understanding of how my dad might feel, not being able to talk to his kids as often, and having to deal with his past and shit. I feel more empathetic towards him than I have before. Knowing that he has to deal with "as long as he's happy." while im with my mom. Anyways, that movie was honestly just a view into a different perspective, I just love it when kids movies have those deep ass messages that'll just fly over kids heads, but asypou get older, you see what was being portrayed, and how valuable certain things are. So yeah, overall review 9/10, -1 point because Chris Pratt should NOT have voiced garfield -_-
