Today I'm Playing: Dragon Age Inquisition

Valentines Day is around the corner, but there's always love in the air in Thedas.

I'm a sucker for games with romanacible companions.

I've done several playthroughs of Dragon Age: Inquisition and always play a little differently each time, choosing different races, alliances and romances. I have played as a mage once but otherwise always choose a rogue. Someday I'll try out the warrior class. Maybe. (Probably not.)

This time Inquisitor Di'ana Cadash, dwarven dual-wielding rogue, is attempting to win the heart of the elusive Sera, mischievous elven archer and member of the anti-nobles anarchist group Friends of Red Jenny. Many fans find her immature and annoying, but I've always found Sera absolutely delightful and love having her in the party. She and Solas in particular have very interesting dialogue, and she seems to have a soft spot for Blackwall made evident through their endearing humor and joining forces to tease other party members. Sera is also the only lesbian companion in the game, and I believe in any Dragon Age game.

What I find fascinating about Sera is her crisis of faith and identity throughout the game and her internalized racism against elves.
