A poem about stars. I used to write poems quite a bit when I was a kid but haven't written anything for almost a year. I have these times when I miss the old me and my therapist has been pushing me to do more and think less in the sense that she says a big contributor to my depression is my ruminating habit. She suggested that instead of ruminating about the past I should do something from the past so even though poetry has become really difficult for me lately and it feels like my creativity ran dry I present to you my first attempt at reliving my past.
Stars they shine
Oh so bright
Others call them
Diamonds of the night
From their eyes
These little gems
Light up the skies
But the truth it sits
As still as the night
The thing that stills the pupil of the eye
Is lighter lights that have no such height
To stare at one is not so smart
They're far to close
Not a hobby to start
The stars they're far but shine within
So stare at them
Let the art come in
It ain't much but it's honest work. I tried to kind of encapsulate my nightly 'look at stars and think about light pollution' moments. Stars are very pretty.
