ciphie reccomends: hi-fi rush is good!? (spoilers)

so this is like a mini review from an unfinished story wise point of view?? i'll beat it soon. anyway:

recently I picked up the titular game off of uh game pass on Xbox, and thought "hey! this game looks fun" and cuz it reminded me of Jet Set Radio, due to art style similarities (somewhat) and the focus on music (even in the title),, what I was NOT expecting was the game to be SOOOO good so far?? I'm only on the 5th stage, but the gameplay has been incredibly fun so far. 

BASE STUFF I LIKE

so a few things I definitely like about the game are, for one:

A. The Combat: GENUINELY such a fucking blast to play. calling in characters like peppermint and others mid battle to like break shields or take down enemies/whittle their health down is a genuinely fun mechanic outside of how they help you around to traverse areas. it also helps that everything is rather rhythm based, like attacks and such, allowing for combos. it also has a pretty fair rating system that doesn't give too terrible of grades surprisingly! if you play risky and hard, you get rewarded, which I think is really nice :)

B. The Controls: nothing feels clunky and everything feels concise, the only convoluted thing that's hard to get down is the button combos to press like its Mortal Kombat LOL, but they're very fun to do! especially in succession. Ohhhh in succession its GREAT !!

C. The Characters: every character, from Chai to Peppermint, from the bosses to the robots, they all feel like individual opponents and protagonists and not the same old thing again and again. they all have unique personalities and ways of speaking that make them stand out from each other. my favorite character is that clumsy bastard named Chai. he wants to be a rockstar so bad yet ends up spoiling things in the process, which is the irony !!

D. The Story: it doesn't feel forced and it all makes sense, like i can actually understand it without needing to read ciphers or anything like that. its not too complex but its not super cheesy either with simplicity. I enjoy the dialogue and it all feels like a natural conversation and/or arguments between people in that world. I love it so much !!

uhhhhhh r u fuckin serious?? YEAH!! you really should! even if Rhythm games aren't your thing you should still check it out, even for other aspects. that's all! now go play it!
