every colin firth movie : part one

okay this is stupid but i realised i basically assigned myself a challenge that would usually be a part of an hour long youtube video but im not a youtuber and im not as committed to the bit as someone who is getting paid to do this so. hi spacehey friends. the other day i realised i have only ever watched 4 colin firth movies yet im very familiar with his face from .... him being famous idk. those four films are Love Actually (2003), Mamma Mia! (2008), Mary Poppins Returns (2018) and Nanny McPhee (2005). i started this on 19/05/24 when i was watching Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again (2018) for non colin related reasons i just remembered it exists and i wanted to see it.

next i watched all the Bridget Jones movies whiiiich were soooo interesting the first two were made within a couple years of eachother and really really are like time capsules BUT so is the third one from 2016. it gave me whiplash. ed sheeran, gangnam style not just in the soundtrack but also the dance and ALSO it was discussed between characters and i think jess glynne was in there like yasss im ready for this theres no denying. as for the characters themselves, it was great to see bridget actually develop as a person during the time skip however. mark darcy. id say how in those 10 years of breakups and remarriages did you not change at all but my dad similarly doesnt grow as a person so maybe its accurate. overall fine set of movies im pretty sure theres going to be another one (please stop shes married and has a baby she doesnt need more torture if the next one is about how daniel still wants her ill cry.) ill probably watch it when it does come out if only to see if my predictions are correct.

last night i watched Valmont (1989). it was an experience. initially i was like oh cute little ponytail silly man. and then he ........ did stuff..... which was probably historically accurate but idgaf i didnt want to see that. reading the reviews it was really clear i am missing out on some lore to do with valmont and apparently theres a bunch of different versions and if i had that context i might of had a different watching experience but as someone who went in blind i was a bit confused but the costuming was gorgeous.

tonight im watching Supernova (2020) because stanley tucci is in it. ive managed 2 films per day so far which pins me as finishing this at the end of june (pride month!) but thats if i stay committed and continue to sacrifice my free time. this blog is just so it doesnt feel fruitless.

will post updates when i remember ...
