THE BLACK BOX FIX IN OHIO, USA

Last year, me and my family took a road trip for 2 weeks straight, driving thru Atlanta, GA all the way to the very edge of New York to visit Niagara Falls. We had planned a few black-owned restaurants to visit and patronize (i don't really think about those things but my mom is really big on it) and we marked The Black Box Fix down.

I didn't think i was much of a gourmet sandwich person- turkey and cheddar cheese with extra mayo had always treated me right, and honestly I was a little doubtful. Like no way this place was THAT good.

I don't remember much about the Legacy Village itself, I just remember it seemed really upscale.

So we walk into The Black Box Fix restaurant and I swear, the heavenly scents in that place almost brought me to my fucking knees. I felt tears welling up and the fragrant made me so hungry that it felt like something was eating thru my stomach from the inside out. I SWEAR to you I'm not lying.

It took us literally 15 minutes to pick something because the smell of the food made me want to eat everything and I couldn't decide. I ended up ordering the honey sriracha ranch chicken sandwich with a side of garlic parm fries. NEVER IN MY LIFE have i ever had a meal humble me like that.

I take pride in my big-backness. I have never been able to NOT finish a meal. But when I got that sandwich and those fries? It felt like I was eating double the food. I got full so fast. That was good, because it came in this fancy black tray that I could just take with me and eat it later.

And it wasn't just me, my entire family (6 of us total) got BANGER plater. We were stuffing our faces the entire time, barely talking because why waste time talking when food this good is right in front of us? I have a picture of the food I got too, I just have to find it under the other 1400 pictures in my phone. IT LOOKED SO FANCY? Like you're telling me THIS costed only THAT much??

I WAS expecting a really really big price tag because it's gourmet and all, but after eating the food and even having some of their juice and desserts, I felt bad for only paying that much because I wanted the chef to come out so I can bow at their feet, shine his shoes, pay his rent, SOMETHING. But of course my mom tipped the cashier.

I still have dreams about that place. It pains me to know that since I live in South Carolina, it'll probably be years before we ever go to Ohio again. This year we're planning on going to Canada, but I don't know if we'll ever be able to go thru Ohio again.

The Black Box Fix, if you're ever reading this, I wanna thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your gourmet sandwich saved my life and I'll never be able to replicate what you gave me. ThaNK YOU <3
