I Love Park Bom (and why)

I never thought I’d get interested in any celebrity, let alone someone from K-pop. Normally, I’m the type of guy who listens to every music genre because music means so much to me. But recently, I started listening to 2NE1’s music, and one specific person caught my eye – Park Bom.

In my previous blog post, I talked about 2NE1 and their impact on me. I love their music and was thrilled to learn more about them. Despite that, I think I've found my bias in 2NE1, and it's none other than Park Bom herself.

Park Bom, known simply as Bom, is a South Korean singer best known as a member of 2NE1. She started her musical career in 2006, featuring in singles released by labelmates like Big Bang, Lexy, and Masta Wu. Bom is acclaimed for her unique and beautiful vocals. Ted, a music and lyric producer, once said, “Any song with Bom's vocals in it instantly makes it amazing.” Bom’s voice is an alto-soprano, mostly ranging in higher tones. Her voice is breathy, half sultry, yet powerful – like flowers blooming in springtime. She sounds very sweet and perfect.

Bom was involved in many controversies, which is just wrong! She was accused of having plastic surgery when it was actually lymphadenitis – a condition causing her face to swell. She was also diagnosed with ADD, causing issues with her diet and medication, and weight gain from meds and her condition. During that time, she received a lot of backlash and hate, causing her to take a hiatus. Honestly, I think she’s beautiful no matter what. She’s very supportive of her group members and sweet to her fans. She’s a genuinely kind person. (I think she's very strong coming back from all of that. Not everyone can handle that, especially me!)

Park Bom is a unique person, supportive, with amazing vocals and a wonderful presence. She’s a gem in the music world, and I really look up to and adore her. It’s bittersweet to know she felt sadness when 2NE1 disbanded, as she thought of them as her best friends and family. She still supports the members on her socials and gives them her full attention. Today, she’s a solo artist with incredible vocals. I recommend you check her out! (2NE1’s success was mostly thanks to CL and Bom, but of course, Dara and Minzy too. Bom was especially popular for her vocals and live performances.)

And no, I don’t dislike or hate the other members. I love CL, Minzy, and Dara too, knowing they’ve all worked hard in this group even after they disbanded. They’re all unique, amazing artists!
