"a million in One" poem by meeee :P

In a busy world, with many little trinkets and talks, it's easy to forget ones purpose,

To get lost in the shiny little conversations of life

To live amongst these human beings

like I dont have some nagging responsibility that slowly burns at the very end of my tail

Some duty I have with the fabrics of only Nature and the World

Something I have owed to my parents at the start of human evolution

When I was breathed into a body made of clay, sticks, and wine

In an unknown communion between two mothers and two fathers

to observe and learn and study the extent of Man's philosophy for keeping alive

And everything they do to distract from them-pesky-selves. 

I store the knots of data in each strand of my hair

And when I rot through the Earth's crust and lay this clay to rest

The fabrics of only Nature and the World

will comb through the quipu and read the report

On the essence of humanity in the 21st century

But I’m in love with someone, I sing along to music, and yesterday I ate chocolate cake

And I scroll on my phone and pay fines when I get tickets

I call my friends sometimes and I even have little opinions on politics!

It makes me happy to be a part of such a massive network of voices and faces.

I was hardwired at birth to find joy in little things like this but

I feel guilty that feelings distract from what I really am

And what I really should be doing

When I leave the ocean for my friends, one is disappointed

When I leave my friends for the ocean, the other is disappointed

on this cruel tightrope is where I learned to walk

in the center of two worlds who consider me to be doing my job wrong

I am an esteemed piece of an ever expanding universe

As much as I am my boyfriend’s friend’s adopted son’s so-called aunty

I am a human

I am Human

one in a Million

a million in One

I was brought into this world with a nagging responsibility

that slowly burns at the very end of my tail

And as long as that fire does not engulf me

I will be doing my job right
