Hence.
My forced retreat,
from the howling pack unleashed...
this constant roiling turmoil snapping at my heels
and heart
running in circles. "Hide hide hide"
Rough bark against my back, entrapped.
But, wait.
When there's danger all around
where else to go, but up?
A quick escape,
thanking God right now for the builders
and the things they left behind
(for money, or love);
My head, my feet dangle above
the facts of the battle
for the Moment,
above all that hot air
down there.
These faded planks, staunch beneath my weight
offer a leave-ing of perspective.
That lower world now screened,
smaller and off-ish,
from my green apex.
To see there, and not be there.
Less contagious,
less outrage-ous....
