Hello everyone! Today I went out just on a whim. I have a membership to the theater near me so I originally just planned to go watch a movie.
The things I did today include:
- Going to Kinokuniya
- Going to Ramen Ryouma and Tea & Tea
- Watching two movies at the theater
Movie #1: Challengers
I really wasn't sure what I was going to go into. I'd been seeing a lot of gifs and clips on Twitter but didn't fully watch them. I decided to go maybe 40 minutes before the movie started and got there in time for the ads to start.
Let me tell you, I was too giddy watching that movie. I've seen a decent amount of movies, some with love triangles, but that was good. I was fujoing pretty bad in the theater. I was still slightly giddy from having watched the new episode of Interview With The Vampire around midnight last night too. It was definitely an experience. At some point I had to wipe tears because of it. Obviously, I really enjoyed the movie.
Kinokuniya
After Challengers, I decided I would watch another movie but it didn't start for another two hours so I'd gone to Kinokuniya. It's a Japanese bookstore chain. It's just across the street from the theater. They finally had Calico Critters/Sylvanian Families stickers in stock again so I got a book of those. I also finally caved and got the second volume of "The Guy She Was Interested In Wasn't A Guy At All" or "気になってる人が男じゃなかった." I tried to look around a bit but the gachapon was out of stock and I couldn't find much else, plus I didn't want to spend too much money.
Ramen Ryouma + Tea & Tea
I ordered a chashu bowl, I intended to eat in but ended up getting mine to go so I ate in front of a small water fountain in the plaza between the theater and Kinokuniya. I hadn't had a bowl in a while and it was really good. I finished it fairly quickly though. Also facing the plaza is a Tea & Tea. I did consider it for a bit but ultimately ended up going to get a drink. I got a blended classic milk tea! While I was drinking, some guys ended up coming into the plaza and recording each other skateboarding. I feel a bit iffy with cameras so I ended up just finishing my milk tea in the theater lobby.
Movie #2: I Saw The TV Glow
I wasn't too sure about this movie either. I think I'd seen the trailer once before another movie and it listed for showtimes, but I hadn't heard much of it outside of that. This is perhaps one of the only movies where I've been intently focused the entire time. Usually I check the time every now and then to see how late it is, but with this movie that wasn't happening at all. I'd had my eyes wide open for so long. I don't have the words to articulate my thoughts fully about it, but I definitely recommend it. On the ride and walk back home, I'd started to feel a pit in my stomach. I started looking for other posts about it and sure enough I wasn't the only one. Please just give it a watch if you have the time. It's really beautiful and done so well.
Walking Home
This isn't anything crazy. I had just missed the streetcar that I would usually take home so I took the one directly after, but this one only goes half the way before changing directions. I decided I'd just walk and it was honestly really peaceful. There were a lot of pretty lights at the bus stop and I'd walked through a small park on the way home. I just wanted to share a few photos I took of it.
That's all for today.
