how do people see internet dating advice and not burst out laughing

So many of them are just on the toxic gossip train on the way to Manipulation Station fr....

"How to make X obsessed" "secret code" "do this trick" bro it's not a fucking witch's game it's somebody's life, and a relationship based on that isn't gonna work well. You guys like the thrill more tbh

Modern “dating advice” is both born out of stupidity and peddled by people who want your money. A lot of modern dating advice is some sort of “trick” or “method” that’s often unexplained and often leads to you going somewhere else to find out more about it (i.e. an Instagram profile, an Amazon book listing, all that stuff). Smart (although morally twisted) people make these things up to catch desperate idiots who will believe anything in their time of need. You could also factor the whole “sex sells” deal into this, where basically these people are promising you sensual interaction with somebody you like if you just follow this account, if you just buy this book, if you just go to this website. When you’re vulnerable, these evil smart people take advantage of that and squeeze you for your desperate idiot money. Some desperate idiots fall into that trap and then believe it so much they start spreading it themselves, innocent and innocuous to the real intentions behind the original poster’s intentions. This is where it gets even worse, because the new person that’s spreading it genuinely believes that it works and thinks they’re helping. Don’t be that guy (or girl).

Like you said, there is no trick or shortcut to dating, you’re dealing with the lives of real people. I guarantee you that if you mentioned to somebody whatever “method” you were using, they would either run away or laugh in your face. Dating doesn’t use shortcuts or tricks, you can’t speed up any part of it. If you’re down low enough to at least think about trying some of these tricks, you need to remember that they don’t work, none of them do. They never have, and they never will. If you need to use a fake trick or method as a crutch for your dating life, you either have to rethink your plan or pull out of the game until you can get back on your feet.

Don’t be stupid. Stupid people are easy to use.

LMAO exactly, you can not make someone who is not attracted to you all of a sudden want to take your hand in marriage.

Yep. Real fucked up how a lot of "dating advice" is really just a 101 class on how to be predatory and manipulative

ugh ikr. A lot of people's view on relationships is so fcked up. Like, how is it normalized that people see dating as a game? And it's not like it's just "people nowadays". As far as I can tell we went straight from arranged marriages to this.

we need to bring back arranged marriages these people can't be trusted to procreate on their own
