"What is your personality made of?
Do you think it's memories?
Perhaps you are the way your mother held you and hummed lullabies until she had made sure you were already dreaming, or, on the contrary, the way she didn't.
Perhaps you're made of giggles with friends, of conversations and songs. Perhaps most of the words that come out of your mouth aren't yours.
Perhaps you are, also, all those thoughts that have crossed your mind some time. Each and every single one of them. The happy ones, the painful ones and the longing ones.
You might be made out of smiles, tears, footprints and words.
And what will happen when you don't remember any of that? What will you be when your mind solely depends on you?
Do you think that it's chemistry instead?
It's possible that you are just somebody's daughter. Perhaps genetics will follow you at close range, in every step you take, in every decision you make, whether you like it or not.
Whatever it is that you think, I grant you the possibility of being you. Not your father's daughter, not the live image of your mother, not all the books you've read. You. Whether you know what that means, or not.
Will you take it, Evangeline?"

At first I thought this was some "Camusesque" reference, but it seems to be a quote? Where from exactly?
it's a quote from a game i'm developing, but it does reference john locke's memory criterion as well. i would like to hear which of camus's theories could be related though, might include it somewhere

I can defo see it once you've brought it up. It reminded me of an interpretation of The Stranger a little bit. How the memories you have don't even matter in the end because we all die the same anyway.

i can see your interpretation too though, thanks for sharing, i think it would be interesting to include references to that at some point as well :)
