working on my book

working on my manuscript :3 heres a sneak peek: The damp wet floor splashed underneath Alexandria Gray's feet as she ran across the roof tops of the New York City building tops. She could feel the wind blowing through her hair as she slid across the gravel-y roofs with her Tempest branded shoes to make sure she had maximum grippage.

From her view she could see her boyfriend, Everette, running by her side, and the expansive city landscape before her. She didn't have time to admire it because she was currently on a mission. Her long honey blonde hair fell across her shoulders as she sprinted, whizzing past rooftop radiators and venting systems as she did so.

Her boyfriend wasn't much older than her, two years, but their lifestyles were in complete contrast towards each other. Everette lived in a very classy apartment in the city, and he was able to afford it through his work as a producer. That wasn't what they were doing now, though.

Currently, they were planning a heist. There was a famous theatre in the city called Star Haven, and Alex has been looking to get inside that building in any way she saw fit. Everette, on the other hand, wanted this years schedule for the theatre season. If he could get his hands on that, he could leak it, and make thousands of dollars. People would have months to prepare for the role, all thanks to him.

Around his shoulders was a rappel line and anchoring normally seen in rock climbing, but today, it fit their needs. It swayed side to side in the motions of the running. They hopped the short distance between two buildings before coming up on a makeshift board.

"Be careful" Everette shouted over the distance. "You don't know how old it is."

Alex eyed up the old board as the two slowed down towards the edge of the building. "Who do you think put it here?" She questioned out. "Who cares? Tell me if it's sturdy or not. You weigh less than me."

Alexandria shot him a frustrated glace. Each building they ran past had inclined higher and higher, taking them hundreds of feet into the air. If she were to fall, it'd be to her death. "How do you know it wont just collapse underneath my weight?"

He shrugged. "Step on it with one foot and see if it breaks."

She turned her body back towards the plank and set a foot on it. It held. She slowly walked her way across towards the other side. It was at a slight incline so she made sure to keep her balance across the bar. When she looked down, she could see an alleyway with a couple people meandering around, and two large trash bins.

It was April and the sky was a mix of a light pink and a baby blue, and they blended together as if an artist had painted the scene just for her to experience for just a moment. The clouds in the sky appeared to Alexandria as if they were plucked out of a graphic novel and placed where they are now. It was a picture perfect morning for their plans.

"Hurry up!" She called out, before beginning to pick up her pace again. They were only three buildings away from the hotel when Alexandria tripped and fell over herself with a loud 'Umph!' sound. Everette stopped to look towards her, only offering a groan of annoyance. "You're slowing us down."

"I think I twisted my ankle." Alexandria replied earnestly.

"You're an idiot. I need you for this."

She signed. "Can't it just wait a minute? It's literally right over there. Let me rest my ankle for a minute and I can probably get going."

Everette let out another sound of annoyance. "You know what? I should seriously just do this without you. I don't even know why I brought you along."

Alex wiped the dirt and dust off of her clothes as she brought herself up to a standing position. She leaned all her weight onto one leg before limping her way to the edge of the building. "What are you doing?" Everette hissed out.

"I'm resting! If you can do it without me then do it without me! I don't give a shit!" She waved her hands in the air before dusting them off on her pants. She was wearing a black long sleeve crop top and a black pair of leggings which had now been stained tan with dust and dirt. "Stop being a bitch! You know I need you. Just shut the fuck up and rest or whatever?"
