Genuine (unknown) 2000s media #1: Nos Années Pension

Hello ! Since this website is centered around 2000s nostalgia, let me introduce you to some 2000s media. I might make this a recurring series, even if nobody reads it because, in the end, I'm just vibing and this is also a place for me to rant about the stuff I like without disturbing anyone. No spoilers for the show here, in case someone is  interested, but I might rant about some of the events of the show on here at some point.

Last year around Christmas I came across a French series from 2007 called Nos Années Pension (translated to 'our pension years', referring to their time at a boarding school). This series is about five people in their late teens who go to boarding school, gradually become friends, form a band and aim to play at concerts and record CDs. The show is completely in French, so if you want to learn French or already speak it and are a 2000s enthusiast then this may be something for you. If you have no interest in learning French or don't speak it at all, auto-translate captions are available but they may not always be accurate.

Regardless of the clarity of the storyline, this show is an amazing time capsule to look at- the fashion, the electronics (particularly interesting for me LOL), etc. I've also grown fond of some of the songs. I personally find the songs in season 1 bad, but that is just my personal taste. My favourite songs are in season 3.

A few things to consider/be mindful of before watching 

♡ There is a lot, I repeat, a LOT of romance and love drama. If you don't like that and still are interested in the show, you might have a hard time skipping all the romantic parts

♡ There is some  queer representation, but not a lot, and it is not always good. You must remember that this show is from the 2000s and that gay representation, let alone good  gay representation in the media, was practically unheard of. So this show is somewhat of an exception. There are one or two episodes with good lesbian representation in season 2.
