New CD

Today i finally had an opportunity to listen to a new CD

I bought it at thrift store almost a week ago! Its a bunch of singles by suede. The CD was out in 2003 and i bought it only for a $1.25! I didnt had much of hope for this CD to be even working because of the scratches but it works and i am really so happy.

To be honest I never heard of Suede before, but turns out their music is so catchy. My favorite is "Filmstar" so far.

Suede is a classical, in my opinion, british rock band, started in 1989. It really has a big inspiration from Dawid Bowie, which is good i think. I really need to listen to their albums as well.

Anyway, its very good and i am really happy that despite my hesitation i bought it!

SUEDE MENTIONED NO WAY they're one of my favourite bands ever, glad you like them and especially filmstar, that one is so underappreciated

I really cant believe that i never heard of them before, cause they're soooo good, glad that i summoned suede fan tho;). They're gonna be one of my favorite bands fr

heavens(suede fanbase) gained another angel(me)

yeahh they were super popular from like 1992-96ish, people started to get tired of them because they were all over every music magazine and media haha. they're often considered the start of the britpop genre but out of the kind of 'big 4' britpop bands (blur, oasis, suede and pulp) they seem to me like the least well known to people nowadays which is a shame!!

the modern fanbase is small but mildly feral, glad to have another >:3

oh god so they WERE popular, thats explains everything. The situation is somehow reminds me of led zeppelin. They were (and i think somehow is?) very popular and influential but now theyre considered as "played-out" and too old-fashioned.

In my opinion its pure blasphemy to let such good music just collect dust even if it was once popular. I maybe sound like some kind of an old guy who hates everything new but they really dont do music likes this anymore. And i think "forgetting" bands like suede makes the whole situation just worse:(

as an old guy who hates everything new trapped in the body of a teenager, i have to agree... and suede i think are the only band from that time who have stayed consistently great! their most recent album is up there with their earlier greats but the more recent works of similar bands i've always found disapponting...

what i hate most is there's good recent music out there, but it's not 'pop' any more, so it's hard to dig the good stuff out from the slurry of generic radio pop that's everywhere now! suede were pop in like 1993, now i only hear them on alternative radio stations run by middle aged people who were there at the time :,)

i think recent music is important and i hate that my music taste is essentially a portal back to like 1997 at the latest but. that's the way it has to be sometimes :(

you know, i just cant comprehend that music like suede was once on radio. Like of course i understand it but i think it really tells a lot about society nowadays and quality of modern music, like even looking at it objectively, most records of the modern popular music is shorter than it was even 30 years ago. the lyrics are also became more repetitive and less complicated(?). People just dont listen to music like they're used to and its really sad

as for old bands that still active, yes, thats really sad when they try to fit into the modern frames of pop. i think thats the main reason i dont really want mcr5. sometimes bands just gotta stop

also i agree with you that modern music is important but sometimes i really cant help myself but to wonder how someone can listen _only_ to it unironically. And when they discover your music taste, and suddenly you become a freak. And than they start to tell you how Taylor Swift is more influential than Kurt Cobain

anyway I think we need to popularize old bands (cause they were popular for a reason) so modern artist could take inspiration from them and not some posers like tx2 or simply "too much pop, not enough punk" guys

there area lot of older popular bands i love who i do sort of wish they quit while they were ahead... oasis for example, they had 2 great albums, 1 decent album, then however many that are fairly awful no matter how you look at it... as for mcr my favourite of theirs is bullets and i am far from a fan of danger days, i do feel like any mcr5 would be disappointing :(

taylor swift fans are honestly a different breed i swear. i would describe hers as 'music for people who dont like music', the average swiftie i've come across is mainly in it for the celebrity rather than the actual songs..... and you can tell anyone raving about her influence isn't particularly clued up on music history, and completely unwilling to learn because they don't really care

i've found enjoyment in pretty much every genre and elitism between genres is so tiring to me! i love punk music and punk culture, i dress the part, spiky jackets and big boots, but people are always surprised to hear that i love a good pop song, and i am willing to talk about any kind of music because i think music is a wonderful thing! i wish more people were willing to explore things they aren't used to, cause i'm sure i could get even the most obsessive swiftie to enjoy a few of the old and wonderful artists who have influenced taylor swift, directly and indirectly...
