i dunno why but recently ive just been wanting to go back in time, like the way the internet exists now just seems so much different and honestly worse from what it was like 10 years ago
i wish i was older so i could have really experienced it
i just wish life right now wasnt so shit and that i could have done things differently

Having been online 10 years ago I think the most noticeable change for the worse has been the political polarization of the internet. It didn't used to be as common for politics to be at the forefront of internet socialization. If I were to blame anything it would probably be current events but I also lean towards the younger generation (tiktok generation, gen-z, children, whatever you want to call them) being a lot more politically aware in some ways being a large part of it. Honestly, while I do miss some aspects of how the internet used to be I also dont think the change is entirely bad.
Nostalgia can be a real pain in the ass though, those rose tinted glasses especially are not to be trusted.

Assuming you know what group you are looking for (certain hobbies, political compass, gender identity, etc) I actually think it is in some ways easier to find it online nowadays, since it is a lot more out in the open than it used to be. Much like before though, if you are unsure of how to start searching it can still be quite a challenge.
