plastic water bottles

i love reusing plastic water bottles. i think i get it from my dad. there's a lot i think i've gotten from him. a habit of reusability. we both stack our leftover containers for later, next to the stacks that are already left over.

i had to force myself to throw away the plastic tub i kept in my apartment at the end of this last semester. i knew i would never actually use it--it wasn't anything meant for the long-term, not like tupperware--and all it had done was sit on the counter and collect dust for a year. it still felt wrong to put it in the trash when all was said and done.

it's like every little piece is something precious. the little square of bubble wrap sent around a phone charm. the thin cardboard box of off-brand brick toys that got half-crushed to death on its journey over the sea to my mailbox. the little plastic baggies that each hold a set of dice. each one has been created to serve the singular purpose of containing something else more important. but, in my hands, they are important all the same.

i collect the leftovers of a wasteful society. a plastic water bottle sits with a second life in the fridge, in the same spot where my father keeps his own.

Its always good to reuse, though personally I have mostly moved away from plastic bottles and just use a stainless steel flask
