Death of girlhood
the death of girlhood is coming upon us. Remember when you were young? and what did you look like at 12? A kid, right? now think of a 12 year old girl in this day and age. does she still look like a child? or just a woman? a tiny woman, but a woman none the less.
but what makes these girls different?
maybe its the fact that they look older, or try to look older. they start wearing makeup at a young age, they start wearing revealing clothes at a young age. They act differently as well, more like a young woman, than a child who should be starting puberty. And just so you know, I have no authority to speak as I am a 15-year-old girl, however, I still see a difference in how I acted at 12 compared to a girl that is 12 now. So yes, there is also a large difference with the little bit of years in-between me and the girls I am talking about.
Skincare? Whats the big deal?
The big deal is that some girls as young as 7 are already using skincare and makeup that was made for people in their 30s. The skincare I am talking about contain retinol and hydroxy acid. Dermatologists say these ingredients should be avoided on young skin because it will break the young skin barriers. And those young girls don’t need it yet. Their skin is usually still smooth around the age of 9 to 12. The worst part is that brands are actually advertising towards kids. Good technique, why? Because of the fact kids are easy to influence and very gullible.

This is all due to children being exposed to social media at such a young age. It's not just the fact that these kids are seeing adults look a certain way, but also the fact that kids are being pressured to look and act that exact same way so precociously, and modern social media is unfortunately VERY effective at doing just that.
It says a LOT about how fucked up the stupid modern world is when we can VERY clearly see all the damage done to young, developing brains right in front of our very eyes. The internet has gotten WORSE over the past decade or so and we've already reached the critical point to where there aren't many safe places on the web for children to explore anymore like there used to be (particularly so after Adobe Flash ended its support in January 2021 and many Flash game websites have entirely shut down). So of course, where else really is there for children to go when they go online?
Peer pressure to use these social media sites and follow trends (sometimes potentially harmful ones) also doesn't really help with this either, as neurotypical children and adolescents appear to be highly vulnerable to succumbing to peer pressure. Their parents also don't seem to be helping here either as they seem to be allowing their children to use these websites (and without any restrictions or supervision either) and are willing to purchase these skincare products (many of which contain ingredients which can harm prepubescent skin) and revealing clothing for them.
This is all just a symptom of a MUCH larger problem within our modern society and until and unless we all decide to work together to fix these sorts of issues, things are only going to get worse from here in the future. :(
I couldn't agree more, it is so sad to see girls who feel the need to become women at such a young age
