Why did Microsoft remove InfoPath?

(Before I start, I just want you to know that I put a lot of effort into looking for information, I love doing this, but I spend a lot of time researching, searching for information and writing, I don't use AI like others, I write everything from my heart, so please, I would appreciate your Kudos, please share this blog with other people who like computer science and write a nice comment,  That would help me a lot. Thank you)

Hello, today I want to talk about an interesting topic, a topic that as usual, most people don't talk about. I talk about the removal of InfoPath, features, reasons for removal, alternatives, and more.

What was InfoPath?

InfoPath was a computer program, which helped users to create forms based on XML, the main feature of this is to be able to create XML documents with support for XML Schema.

InfoPath

The latest version of InfoPath was released within Microsoft Office 2013, and its last stable version was 15.0.4733.1000 on September 1, 2015.

Why was it eliminated?

InfoPath was removed by Microsoft mainly because people didn't use it, it had very little audience, so they realized that people didn't like InfoPath, or didn't find it useful, and an app that isn't useful and almost no one uses it is very bad, does that mean InfoPath was a bad app? well, the truth is that I didn't try it at the time, but according to what I saw in some videos and on Wikipedia I realized that it had some interesting functions, being able to create documents and XML forms seems great to me, but it seems that ordinary users did not find this application useful, InfoPath was an application for a small audience,  To an ordinary person who doesn't know XML and other InfoPath stuff, it would seem like a useless application, even though it really wasn't.

InfoPath working

InfoPath had 2 "versions" InfoPath Designer and InfoPath Filler, the Designer version was for creating your form and/or document, while Filler was for testing it. InfoPath was intended for companies, but not many used InfoPath, InfoPath was to make documents and forms, let's say "advanced", we can add data to the forms and many more things, in addition, it had functions for developers, mostly XML, they could add different components such as a TextBox1 or a RichTextBox1, that's called object-oriented programming (what I program).

Alternatives to today

Nowadays you can download InfoPath, although of course, it will not be the latest version like 2019 or 2021, but it will be 2013, so it will have a different design from the other Office apps, but there are some alternatives to InfoPath, instead of installing InfoPath on your PC, which is an outdated application and without some functions that today are essential,  Instead, install or use one of these alternatives:

  1. Forms: Office forms is an application to make forms linked to data, it comes with many templates and functions, and it is one of the best alternatives todayForms working
  2. Google Forms: It's like Microsoft's Forms, but from Google, it brings many functions that can also be interesting, it's also very easy to use and you can do quizzes and surveys from theGoogle Forms working
  3. PowerApps: In my opinion the best (although it is followed by Forms), PowerApps is an application which can serve as a replacement for InfoPath, it has many functions and is connected to the cloud and Microsoft 365, a very good alternativePowerApps working

What would the InfoPath icon look like today?

Well, this is just curiosity, but I noticed that the user UPCGameswasremoved uploaded a concept of what the InfoPath icon would look like in 2019 with the fluent design if Microsoft had not discontinued it, it looked very good on him, in itself here is the image and below it is the link of the DevianArt publication:

Yes, it would have helped you, although it wasn't that advanced, it was mostly to make documents and forms, although as far as I know a person made a game in InfoPath, too bad I don't have the link to show you, I don't know where that will be
