You have no idea how long i have wanted to write this, ever since Kingdom Battle's announcement in 2017! (((o(*°▽°*)o)))

i always wanted to storytell my experience with the mario and rabbids franchises ever since i was little and get to explain freely why the crossover is so, SO special to me, so there we are, finally!＼(＾▽＾)／

sight tight, grab a snack or drink, and get ready to read about me rambling over a fat italian plumber and some insane alien rabbits lol (if you "ain't reading all that" or you have a low attention span, feel free to scroll to the TL;DR, ur welcome! ┐(︶▽︶)┌)

chapter 1: when a gamer was born (and how i met mario)

the story starts around april 2011, when my family got their hands on a wii and nintendo dsi for my sister's communion-
i vividly remember the mess in the living room after opening up the boxes, both little me and sis being excited playing a game called horse life on the ds while my parents were setting up the wii and especially how surprisingly shimmering the wii itself and the wii remotes were (they're not as much today, but they both still works great! yeah, i still have it working almost 15 years later, and i still use it to this day, same with the dsi <3)

along with the wii, we got wii sports, wii party, just dance disney party and, most importantly, mario kart wii; t my first ever introduction to mario and his games, along with mario kart ds! :)

that day in particular in the end, made me what i am now today, or in other words, it became my whole personality for the rest of my life so far! (￣▽￣)
from that day, i started from time to time to get more mario games, such as mario party 9, strikers, new mario bros, and so many others! and it only spiraled more when at MY communion, i got a black wii u and blue new 3ds xl, along with tomodachi life, just dance 2016, and mario kart 8! (talk about deja vu, huh? yes, i still have both of them too :3)

chapter 2: when the rabbid nation attacked and everything changed

another dramatic title because this actually (and sadly but not really) deserves one  (*/_＼)

let's fast forward to around 2016, to a cold march night, in a town somwhere in italy, where a third grade little boy decides to watch a gameplay of a "rabbids land" gameplay, on the wii u version of youtube. little did he know, the rabbids would have became the cause of his...let's call it a "horse girl phase"...

Yes, this is really, REALLY embarassing to admit, but as a kid, i had a horse girl phase where my dumb past self decided TO PHISICALLY BELIEVE that i was one with the rabbids. i thought i was one of them all of that time.(⁄ ⁄0⁄-⁄0⁄ ⁄)

long story short, it took me 2 long years for me to get out of the phase and stop all of the trouble i got in as a kid. i really do NOT wanna go in detail in here, i can't help but cringe at  everything now. please, somebody give me an "erase memory" button- (ノ*°-°*)

chapter 3: when childhood memories and cringy phases collide (kingdom battle)

It's Summer 2017, E3 conference. A Mario and Rabbids crossover gets officially announced.

Yeah, i do not remember much, i just remember jumping and screaming all over the house like a maniac! I was so excited, it was my entire world at the time in a single game! (seeing such an expressive mario after years of...blank smiling faces, it really felt so goddamn magical, ubisoft really gave the fella more life than nintendo EVER did) (at least until i discovered the mario and luigi series lmao, great franchise too!) Too bad i didn't bought a Switch, at least for now...

Flash forward to 2019, i try the 1v1 mode of the game at a friend's birthday party, and INSTANTLY FELL in love with the combat gameplay of the game; i always used to play turn based rpg games before, and this one felt SO REFRESHING- the music was great too, always loved orchestral themes in videogames (SHOUTOUT TO THE GOAT OF THE COMPOSER, GRANT KIRKHOPE)
I think i can safely say i have became a changed man ever since (´,,•ω•,,)♡

Flash forward again to 2021, after my middle school graduation, i finally, after 4 long years of begging my parents, got my hands on a beautiful (used) grey switch <33
The first game i got for it? Yup, you called it, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, baby! \(★ω★)/
I will NEVER be able to describe how magical the journey through the entire game felt, i can wrap it up by saying it truly feels like a celebration of me and the worls i; there's everything, badass moments, beautiful animation and music, good ol' rabbids comedy. and such fun characters, like beep-0, sparky and so on!

||I'm gonna ignore the fact that it took me 3 weeks to beat the final boss, that was pure pain and i honestly do not wanna talk about it... still felt SO GOOD to see rabbid peach defeat bowser at 1 HP LIKE A MADLAD. NO THIS IS NOT A JOKE, IT WAS WILD. SHOULD HAVE SEEN MY FACE LOOKING LKE SHOOKED PATRICK LMAOO||

chapter 4: when the novae became a supernovae (sparks of hope)

(man, ubisoft really predicted chris pratt as mario in the movie because of mario's dual weapons in game, huh?)

Let's remain in 2021, and, a sequel to Kingdom Battle gets leaked and then announced at E3 (do you get deja vu?)
the hype train came back all over again! won't ever express how absolutely spectacular the cinamtic trailers were and STILL are (check them out for yourself if u don't trust me :3 --> reveal trailer | launch trailer)

anyways, you KNOW i got the game on day 1 (october 20th, 2022), and i NEVER REGRETTED IT
the game is absolutely a masterpiece, i might be biased at this point, but i dont care, it's a literal masterpiece. it really improved what made kingdom battle great, from exploration and combat, AND CAN WE TALK ABOUT THE LORE, VOICE ACTING AND GORGEOUS PIXAR LIKE ANIMATION AND ORCHESTRAL MUSIC???? i could go on forever jkjkjsfkjgxdj!!! ☆*:.｡.o(≧▽≦)o.｡.:*☆
(sparks might be cursed asf, but they get cuter as time goes on :D)

its honestly sad to see such a wellmade game being labelled as "underperformed", it really didn't deserve to... o(TヘTo)
i wish everyone reading will be curious enough to try the game, OR AT THE VERY LEAST, give the free demo that is on the eshop a spin, i promise you won't regret it one bit!

TL;DR:
mario? childhood hero.
rabbids? cause of an EMBARASSING horse girl phase but still gave me many memories.
the mario + rabbids games? MASTERPIECES, might be biased, but please look up gameplays of the games, or even better, give the games or their free demos a spin! you'll see why im so obsessed :3
