I've never been a fan of the use of AI.
Within video games the explicit term of AI is 'NPC AI', which, at that point, should be called SI - Specified Intelligence; or to be more pedantic, Simulated Intelligence. And it's quite ironic that those who claim these generative AI models have no impact on artists, their wellbeing or otherwise specified, call themselves artists. No, you are not an artist for typing "beautiful girl sitting on beach watching jellyfish stroll by", you are a type-prompter. The worst is when it comes to high-stake professions such as software engineer (in this example, game developer) and the numerous amounts of branching-off professions and lines of work that are at stake,
Why do I speak of this at 1:03am? The CEO of EA, a company synonymous with micro-transactions (However, activision-blizzard is objectively worst) has thought it a good idea to push for the use of generative AI in their projects. I say fuck AAA games (AA and Indie are where it's at.) A shitload of people are going to lose their jobs. From level designers, sound engineers, networking, support (that's already mandated by bots anyways) programmers, concept artists, and so many more.
All I know is that the game I'm working on, AI is the largest fucking no-no out there - SI, however, is another story; I don't give a shit about the money. It's the passion that comes first, because if I'm not passionate about a project, or I feel cheated out of building my own systems, I will delete everything in an instant. Call it perfectionism, but I'd rather not type "give me 20 ideas for pneumatic-powered machines inside a vessel" and instead take the time and effort to see what sticks and what doesn't. Actually using my brain - not for Grade12 anatomy, but history? Sure.
I'll probably post another blog at 12 or 1am just talking about this ongoing AAA crash and what it may mean. Later down the line, and if I really feel like wasting my life, I'll just post some political essays or some bullshit.
Anyways that was my rant over. Thank you for attending my tedtalk

It kinda depends rlly
If valve would ever decide to finally make games again the industry would probably see a 180 or smth

That may be true. An example would be Larian Studios - that did change how the AAA scene was viewed by both consumers and publishers for quite some time. With valve being as respectable as they are, and how how much money they've raked in from their soft/hardware, it's almost safer to play dead than throw the possibility of desecrating their otherwise pristine name with a poor, or even unsatisfactory release. Valve somewhat makes games today, whether engine ports or hardware; but I cannot say if they'd incite a larger catalyst than Larian with BG3 in the gaming/developer space. Maybe a HL3 but that's a dream.
