language stuff part 1 maybe

ok sooooo im learning japanese and thats what this blog is about......... literally just me practicing i guess?

today i actually learned how to form a simple sentence! well two types of sentences i guess? or three?

basically i learned how to say stuff along the lines of "A is B", "my name is (name)" "A is not B"

example of the "my name is ____" thing:

わたしのなまえはエコーです

i think i wrote that correctly? i mean google translate says i did so. yay. hopefully the lesson i took was correct

i'm gonna break down the sentence now!!

  • so the first word there is わたし which basically means "i".
  • the next part is の which affects the previous word and changes it from "i" to "my". it basically makes whatever is in front of it possessive.
  • then there's なまえ which means "name", so basically the sentence so far is "my name".
  •  the next part is は which is what actually separates the sentence into two parts. it basically marks that the word before it is the topic of the sentence. also fun fact it's usually pronounced "ha" but in this case it's pronounced "wa".
  • then there's エコー, the actual name, which in this case is echo. you might notice that the letters look a bit different from the other ones, and that's because its a different alphabet, used to show that it's not a japanese word.
  • finally theres です which just goes at the end and it basically means is

srry if this doesnt make sense or if im wrong!! please be nice to me i just started learning
