yapping abt agent 4

ok sooooo agent 4 may or may not be my current fav character in splatoon ever and second favorite character out of everything that i have ever enjoyed (first place is probably going to be permanently taken by volo from pokemon. that man did things to my mind) 

anywayyy this is gonna be me just ranting about my version of four. the goofiest thing ever. also a lot of this is very different to the actual canon of splatoon. i am aware of that. i dont care because i am having fun

ok so. basically they r some sort of odd cryptid. they are literally just a normal inkling i guess but a cryptid at the same time. basically bigfoot but if bigfoot was a normal person with an unnatural skin color and the only reason people were so shocked by it was that it lived in a forest and acted a bit weird.

four's family for whatever reason is just a bunch of guys living in a swamp/forest? because again they are cryptids or whatever. they are actually distantly related to captain cuttlefish and the squid sisters, i think it would be like,,,, captain cuttlefish had a cousin or something who randomly disappeared one day, and turns out that the cousin is agent 4's great grandpa or something, or whichever thing would make sense with the timeline. srry if theres lore that contradicts any of this, afaik there isnt actually much about the canonical families

so the family tree is like:

srry if this makes no sense.  btw i dont think i have to say this but capn cuttlefish and his partner are not related, same with his cousin + their partner, and same with four's mom and dad. that would be yucky

anyway. so when four is born the only people in their family alive are her parents and aunt. her aunt never had a partner btw. when four is around ..10? her parents have another kid. unfortunately for them there are Creatures in the forest. squids have a lot of predators irl so i'm just gonna say that it couldve been literally anything that eats squids, obviously it wouldnt be like. a whole ass evolved humanoid animal, it wouldve just been a sea creature that evolved to be on land but not to be like the jellyfish/inklings/octos. my current idea is that it was a tiger shark because its funny. shark tiger. tiger shark. whatever

so literally like a few months after her sibling is born or something they are all attacked by said creature, four's parents don't make it, neither does the little sibling, and four's aunt manages to save four. but four feels really guilty that her sibling died and blames herself for it and wishes she could've done anything to save them (this will be relevant later)

btw she gets two scars from this: on her left cheek and right ear, and her aunt loses her right ear and eye, and probably gets a lot more scars than four does.

so tldr: the first major event in four's life is losing her parents and younger sibling. also she's distantly related to the squid sisters but this isnt relevant yet. it will be later though just like the guilt she feels for not saving her sibling.

so now her aunt has to raise her alone, and eventually she decides to enroll her in a school in the city. neither of them know a lot of inkling (as in the language), since they used to mostly communicate through body language, but they DO speak some inkling. anywayy yes this is how four gets to inkopolis square, and also why on the map four's home is so far away. four is really quiet and most people think they r weird so four is really lonely for a while till one day someone just goes up to them and starts hanging out with them. they are besties 4 life. ok maybe not 4 life. oooooo foreshadowing. anyway they keep being friends for a few years, then when they r about 14 they have a dumb argument and just like that four loses their only friend. obviously they are extremely distraught by this, and they run off into the square to go play turf and distract themselves (they are insanely good at turf war btw) and they see an odd person whose silhouette looks. gasp. just like their aunt. gasp. but its actually marie. gasp. so then whatever blah blah blah the events of splatoon 2 story mode happen, and then four makes her aunt come with her to the camp to meet callie and marie and capn cuttlefish, and they have a family reunion. yay. hooray

tldr: four is enrolled in school, makes a friend, gets into a fight with that friend when they are 14 and lose the friendship, splatoon 2 story mode happens, and then theres a family reunion yayyy

while this is happening the stuff in octo expansion is also happening. so when the family reunion is going on when capn cuttlefish and 8 have made it to the surface, all the agents meet eachother. so its a family reunion and agent reunion. woahhh

the squid sisters are rich because they are famous duh. so they decide to buy four's aunt a house and four decides to get a dorm at school. i'm gonna say that in the splatoon universe dorms exist for high schools for some reason. eight enrolls in inkling school and becomes roommates with four, they r besties, they both kinda have crushes on eachother but they never confess or anything, and i can hear you going "WHAT...... BUT.. BUT WHAT ABOUT AGENT 3..." agent 3 exists yes. eight has a crush on agent 3 too.  eight has two hands yk..... so at some point three and eight start dating and four is kinda sad. shit i would be sad too. imagine ur roommates and besties with ur crush and then said bestie starts dating ur awesome other friend who you've always been intimidated by. four kinda has some feelings for three but theyr too busy being jealous to realize. they are also always the third wheel. so then one day around the start of when splatoon 3 happens, four gets into a fight with eight (hmmmmmmmmmmm something similar happened before. that toooootally wasnt on purpose) that is partially caused by their frustration with everything going on, four basically feels neglected and forgotten and she ends up moving out to live with her aunt. she also starts getting a lot into playing video games. huh. im sure that will have no consequences. ok so basically side order starts happening and four gets sucked into it. (YES I KNOW CANONICALLY PARALLEL CANON ISNT AGENT 4, ITS JUST A COPY OF THEM, BUT PLEASEEE LET ME HAVE FUNN) the reasoning i have behind this happening is that marina had been planning on them being the security or whatever, and smollusk just sucked them in thru their phone after finding out about this. 

im too tired to ifnish the rest of the story rn but basically four sees smollusk as their younger sibling and would literally do anything for them (WOAHHHHHHHH REMEMBER FOUR'S DEAD SIBLING? REMEMBER THAT? I WONDER WHY FOUR WOULD WANT TO PROTECT SOMEONE THEY SEE AS A YOUNGER SIBLING.................) 

so tldr: 8 and 4 are roommates and both like eachother but do nothing about it and then 8 gets with 3, 4 is super jealous and feels left out of the group, they get in a fight with 8 and move out, and then get sucked into the memverse by smollusk, who they feel very protective over.

four's actual name is echo btw, i just wanted to stay consistent which is why i called them four. also. yk how the song that plays when u fight parallel canon is called echo onslaught. not only is that the reason i named them echo, but also the reason why i decided their whole thing being events repeating themselves. the whole thing with four losing their closest friend, four being protective over a younger sibling, and probably more once i start fleshing the story out more. anyway after side order i think four would be extremely fucked up both physically and mentally but they do recover and eventually start dating 3 and 8.
