Misc || useful links (to me)

This is just a collection of links that I personally use, mostly for my own reference, but you might like them too.

Cobalt Tools and Youtube Thumbnail Grabber - I've been downloading a lot of music from youtube to put on my phone and so far these are the go-to sites. Cobalt Tools lets you download video and audio from multiple sites including youtube, and Youtube Thumbnail Grabber lets you download thumbnails at various resolutions. I usually go with the smallest one since my flip phone has a small screen.

For web design, I use FontSquirrel's Webfont Generator, which converts .otf and .ttf fonts to a .woff. And since I've had trouble with reducing file sizes in GIMP, I use I❤IMG's Compress Image tool, which in my experience reliably reduces the file size of images. Speaking of reducing file sizes, the webfont generator also gives you the option to remove glyphs from fonts. I find this useful in situations where I know I'm only using a certain font in a limited way, ie. if I know I won't be displaying numbers I can easily remove them from the file, which makes it smaller.
