And writing this immediately after the last one as I can't manage my time properly, this day's challenge is to pick a song that reminds me of the summer.
Although I like lots of songs actually about the summer (Summertime Blues by Eddie Cochran being one of them), but that felt a bit lazy. Of course they remind me of the summer, they're ABOUT the summer. So instead, I picked a song that reminds me of one particular summer in particular. In Summer 2022, my first time back home after my first year of Uni, I discovered the song She Drives Me Crazy by the Fine Young Cannibals.
Possibly the most 1989 song ever made, with heavy rhythmic backbeats and bafflingly high voices, I can't imagine this song without imagining myself being on one specific street of my hometown in the summer, walking down to the beach, headphones in, listening to this song on repeat. The sun was at the point when you're JUST sweating (Which is unpleasant at the time, but a nice addition to the memory), I had some food to eat, and had a slush puppy. And this song takes me right back to that exact moment, so much so that listening to it anywhere else feels wrong.
