Well, guess who forgot she was doing this already? Won't happen again, I promise.
Day 2's Challenge is for a song I like with a number in the title. Well, two songs came to mind, but I would feel bad if I didn't pick 54-46 was my Number by Toots and the Maytals. Early reggae pioneers, the Maytals have a career that stretches from the '60s to the 2010s, and alongside Bob Marley and the Wailers, are probably one of the first bands that come to mind when somebody says "Reggae". The Maytals even had the first song to include the word "reggae" in the title, so if you said "The Maytals invented reggae", you wouldn't be far off.
54-46 was my Number isn't about a phone number, as lots of people seem to think. It was Toot's number in prison after he was arrested. Despite being one of the most famous non-Wailers reggae songs of all time, this is something people still get wrong, even people writing for music magazines.
But enough facts. I love this song. A powerful voice singing serious message in a fun style that's incredibly danceable. What could be more reggae than that?
