It's because everyone's "hiring" but no one's actually hiring.
I assume you're in America - I ran into the same issue.
Workplaces will post jobs online, then ignore any incoming applications.
Your guess is good as mine as to the "why" of it all, but I have it on good authority that literally everyone is doing this (old boss at a gas station I worked at for a year let me in on this, even they were doing it.)
Everywhere's short staffed but their inboxes are full of potential candidates. If you really need a job, and are over 18 with reliable transportation - there's always an option in jobs that need people, keep losing people, but it ain't gonna be pretty.
Case in point, I now work at a factory. Long hours, mandatory overtime, good pay, but like 90% of the people I was at orientation with have already left.
Sounds like an Amazon. You at an Amazon? Because if so........... Good luck. That's all I have to say. Hopefully things go well for you though at least. Luckily I now have an interview as of this week of me typing this, so HOPEFULLY, things go smoothly for me. Hopefully.......
it's so sad to hear that the job market is so ball AAAALL AROUND the world. I'm from italy and the job market is even worse I think. and I completely agree with the comment above.. it's live everyone's hiring but not for real, it's like a thing agencies have to do sometimes just to pretend they are hiring, but the positions are already occupied :(
anyway, in italy sometimes you run into some job posts that say "hiring a graphic designer" and in the description you have to be albe to do A N Y T H I N G even if it's not graphics related!! it's really sick and it can takes you down :(
(I talk about graphic design field because I am a graphic designer! I guess it's similar to other kind of fields)

Not an Amazon, I watch the start of a production line and fix it when it messes up. Best of luck to you too.
