Summer Book Stack 2024 :3

As summer approaches and as I have more and more time in isolation than normal this break, I've decided I am going to bring more books than normal on my travels :3
I would bring more, but I know I'll be getting more for my birthday, and I need to be mindful of my travels and other stuff I'll be bringing 😭

From top to bottom:

  • I'm not really going to "read" capital the way I would normally would read a book, I was planning on studying it and writing notes throughout the course of the break, as it's far too much to take in at once and to dedicate my time to (it would take me all summer to read if I restricted myself to that 😭).
  • While I'm an advocate for Palestinian liberation and definitely more educated than a Zionist on Palestinian history, it's still very broad information, and I would like to immerse myself in their struggle a bit more.
  • The Black Panther movement in the US is one of the most fascinating trends in the history of the US, and I would love to know more about the movement and Newton as a person.
  • I started Soviet Democracy a while ago, but I never got too far because I was so busy, so I want to completely restart and take in the whole text. From what I've read, the USSR in the 30s was a really interesting period in regards to the structure of the Soviet government.
  • Finally, I want to finish the books by Lenin that I already have, since I've already finished State and Revolution and Left Wing Communism, and I just love Lenin's style of writing in general.

With my school year coming to an end, my class periods are becoming increasingly empty, so it's incredibly likely that I'll be able to at least start one (or even two) of them before my break really starts, since it's at the end of the month. I just want to pack light-ish because I'll be getting more to bring back.

If anyone's curious, here are some of the books I was planning on getting at some point!

  • Congo Diary - Che Guevara
  • Materialism and Empirio-Criticism - V.I. Lenin
  • Reminisces of Lenin - Nadezhda Krupskaya
  • Freedom Is a Constant Struggle - Angela Davis
  • On Contradiction + On Practice - Mao Zedong
  • Against Empire - Michael Parenti
  • Thomas Sankara Speaks - Thomas Sankara
  • Socialism Betrayed - Roger Keeran
