(Small Rant) Ever After High and What I Believe Killed the Show(SPOILERS)

*SPOILERS*

☆*:.。. (。T ω T。) .。.:*☆

It is an understatement to say that I didn't absolutely LOVE the animated show "Ever After High". The concept was there (based on the brothers' Grim versions loosely), it came out before Descendents, so the idea was really good even if the idea has been done through other media, and Mattel and the people behind it did the show in a way that was so interesting! The stakes were high and so intense because you could feel the fear of the unknown in each of the character but still, Raven defies her destiny and chooses to write her own destiny by not signing the Story Book of Legends (like a contract that stated their fairytale would come true no matter what, so obvi all the kids that benefited from their stories in the end *coughcough* Applewhite *cough*, would want to keep their happily ever after and live in fame and fortune, but that also means that all the sons and daughters of villains are trapped into having a destiny that ends in death or imprisonment). They even explored the fears of the daughter of sleeping beauty and how she doesn't want to sleep for 100 years and have to be alive while her friends aren't so she party's and spends as much time as possible before wondering if it's really worth never seeing her friends again. The show talked about falling in love with others who aren't apart of your own fairytale (daughter of Cinderella and son pf Jack and the bean stalk). These and some other storylines are explored like adding a Mattel Monster High multiverse (even implied lesbians (which is weird becuz it was shown as "CPR" but cmon, IT WAS TOTALLY A KISS based on previous fairytale lore within that universe)) to show the struggles of making a life decision that will affect you after high school forever.

So, WHY was it cancelled?! The reason Mattel stopped is because of... DESENDANTS.

Now, I'm not saying I hate descendants, in fact, I did watch each movie when they came out. But they do NOT COMPARE to the uniqueness Ever After High. Descendants isn't based on the brother's Grim tales, but only the Disney versions as well as some mythology (the main characters dad is Hades, (3rd Descendant movie)). However, adding the brothers grim was an interesting take because all of most people only know the popular Disney versions of the fairytales. SO, Mattel ended the show (without a proper ending might I add) because they believed that they couldn't keep up with Disney or their dolls. But honestly, they could release the show now, I believe it could be a massive hit. People in 2013 who were watching the show probably weren't watching it on Netflix like younger me was, and in order for the viewer to follow along with the story you needed to watch the episodes in order, which means you need to be on alert for new episodes in the sea of commercials and other shows just to get those short episodes that hold a lot of lore in such a small amount of time which was highly inconvenient compared to the movie format Descendants had, so people had easy access for one price.

It's disappointing but I still love Ever After High, and I believe that it needs to comeback someday. Recently, I have missed this show more than ever. Just talked recently about it and had to get some stuff off my chest and how dissapointed I am that it ended, but happy it was here.
