TOP 10 FAVORITE MET GALA LOOKS

The Met Gala was yesterday, and if you know me or my blog, you know that means it's time to talk about the outfits. I'm an author and I pride myself on what little knowledge of fashion I have. It's intertwined into the stories I'm telling, so I'm excited to be sharing my thoughts with you today. Let's just start shall we?

ABOUT THE THEME: the outfit theme was Garden of Time, while the venue theme was Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.

#1: Jennifer Lopez. Mrs. Lopez was spotted wearing an off the shoulder dress with branching patterns that begins near her pelvis and spreads out across her entire body of the dress. It's very reminiscent of lace. There's a train behind the dress in the style of a mermaid gown. It's silver and sparkly, and the dress has a wings style pattern up near the chest-line. It fans out past her chest and dangles above her shoulders. She's paired this with an simple elegant necklace and a frizzy bun, and a tan pair of chunky heels. She is also seen holding an evening bag. 

RATING: 9/10

#2: Kendall Jenner. Kendall was seen wearing a brown two piece dress. The top resembles a vest and the bottom has a V-line shape to match the top. The edges have detailing on them, and the shoulder have multiple dangles pieces of fabric that swifts side to side every time she moves her arms. The chest line comes up reminiscent of an Elizabethan collar. She's not seen wearing any accessories and her hair is long and straight down towards her sides. 

RATING: 8/10

#3: Karlie Kloss. Ms. Kloss is wearing a pink dress with a sweetheart neck line. The rest of the neckline of this dress is hard to describe. It features flowers and sewing patterns all down the top of the dress, and the straps of the shoulders are made out of flowers. Across the entire dress are glowers and petals which look like they're falling from the sewn on pattern. The pattern follows all the way up Karlie's chest and onto her neck, turning into a necklace that looks like pink vines escaping off of the dress and around her neck. She wears gold rings, but it's too far away to see what they feature. Her shoes are hidden by the length of the dress, and she has her hair slicked back into what one can only assume is a bun.

#4: Sydney Sweeney. This dress is very on theme, first off. It's in the style of an A-line princess dress, with embroidered flower stems with petals and 3d flowers sewn on. It's in the color blue, and the sleeves are asymmetrical. One goes up to her shoulder (her left) while the other side has fallen down towards her arm (her right). Her shoes are hidden by the density of the dress, but she can be seen sporting a pair of black leather gloves that go up to her forearms. She's got a black bob haircut with bangs, and a simple silver necklace. 

RATING: 8/10

#5: Giovanna Engelbert. This is another dress that's hard to describe. It's a mock-two piece green dress, with an Ombre effect. It starts off this deep alternative green color with gemstones stuck to the top. It's in the style of a bra, with just a little midriff showing before the rest of the dress reconnects again. The Ombre effect is achieved by the gemstones, and the lighter it gets, the less gemstones are there. She's also seen wearing a pair of kelly green gloves also churched up with gemstones all along the top side. Around her arms also have gemstones to mock the style of bracelets on each arm. She had a matching pair of castleton green earrings and choker that wraps around her neck. They're both chuncky and round, and get thicker and tinner in certain places. Mrs. Giovanna's hair is slicked back tightly into a bun to the point that certain parts of her hair have sheen on them. 

RATING: 9/10

#6: Harris Reed. Where to start? Harris is wearing what appears to be a pantsuit, but don't get it twisted. This is no ordinary pantsuit. On the top is featured two sharp points, and where a sweetheart line would stop, it extends out. The chest line makes a V towards the middle. Around her hips is a piece of fabric which dangles lower one side. It looks as if Mrs. Reed is wearing a pannier that end right where her hip ends. The pattern across the fabric is light grey-blue, and it features many patterns of golden leaves that shine in the lighting. Beneath the fabric of the pants, we can see her wearing white chunky heels, as well as a few rings on her right hand. Her hair is straight and long, and she adorns a hat with the same fabric as the pantsuit. The hat is big and round, and sits atop of her head as if it were floating. There's black arrows sticking out of the brim.

RATING: 10/10

#7: Iris Law. Ms. Law is wearing an extremely unique dress, in my humble opinion. The design of the dress resembles a butterfly, but the wing colors are pink, purple, and blue. The neck line of the dress has jagged edges that come up towards her chest in an asymmetrical style, and sprawls down the side of her left arm. She's seen wearing many rings, and a simple pair of earrings. Her shoes are unable to be seen. She has a short brown pixie haircut. 

RATING: 7/10

#8: Jennie Kim. Jennie Kim's outfit for the Met Gala was a simply but classy deep blue two piece set. The top is a high neck with many rouging details running down the sides where a long piece drags down past the floor acting as a cape, or as a train. The skirt is also rouged and loops back around to the back, creating this tucking effect around her hip. She sports a white belly chain above the shirt, and two white dangling earrings. Her shoes are the same color blue as her dress, and she has her hair slicked back.

RATING: 8/10

#9: Alia Bhatt. Mrs. Bhatt's outfit was EXTREMELY classic. I'm really not educated on Indian attire, but I know enough to know when I see it. This two piece ensemble is a grey-blue color with pink floral print throughout it. the top is bedazzled with gemstones and the sleeves come out to a flounce. They're flow-y and are also embroidered with gemstones. The neckline of the shirt is a Queen Ann style. The skirt has many ruffles and curls along the right side of Alia's leg, and the left side has a sheer clothes draped around her left shoulder coming all the way across her body to the right. It falls on the floor, it also being sheer. You can see tassels along the left side of the dress as it wraps around her body. She's got a head piece with a dark green gem in the middle wrapped around her head. You cant see her shoes. 

RATING: 9/10

#10: Samantha Berry. Another classic with Mrs. Berry's dress. The top is a corset style with borderline panniers sitting on her sides. The top is strapless and sits in a semi-sweetheart neckline. The bottom of the dress comes flowing out from underneath the top, with there being a bit of distance between the two layers. The top of silver and cream, while the bottom is a light sandstone color. The skirt of the dress is tulle and very floofy. It has lace detail work along the parts the meet the top. Samantha has two bracelets on her right arm and is wearing two handing pearl earrings with a decorated headband. The headband is reminiscent of baby's breathe flowers. Her hair is in a pony tail, and you can't see her shoes.

RATING: 7/10

ABOUT THE MEN: I'm REALLY bad with mens fashion. I know nothing. What i know is what i like, and i'll try my absolute damnest to describe what these outfits look like!

#1: Lil Nas X. Lil Nas's outfit seems to be inspired by cowboys as he dawns a white and silver chap styled suit. The entire ensemble is decked out but buttons lining every curve of every lining. The silver details are sparkling. He has something wrapped around his waist, but it's hard to tell what. The suit jacket is so long that it provides a train on the floor, and the elbows have gaps in them, as if they had been torn. You can't see his shoes.

RATING: 10/10

#2: Roberto Bolle. Mr. Bolle is decked out in a tan and brown suit and a simple pair of black dress shoes. The jacket of the suit looks like a trench coat, and the bands on the cuffs are decked out. The suit itself is a dark cream, or a light brown. The shirt underneath the suit matched the jacket.

RATING: 9/10

#3: Josh O'Connor. Josh shorted your casual looking suit, except for the tail. The suit is your casual black suit and tie, with something silver and shining strapped around his neck (potentially a bow-tie). The tail of the suit splits in two, turning into two tails as it tapers towards the ground. his shoes are pink and floral, and do not match the suit itself. 

RATING: 7/10

#4: Jon Batiste. Mr. Batiste was the most on brand for the men this year. He dawned a black suit jacket that was left open to reveal a cream and floral-y green waist coat. His pants are also black, along with his dress shoes. He has something silver pinned to his suit jacket, but I'm unsure on what it is. He has a white bow tie, and no other accessories. 

RATING: 7/10

#5: Chase Stokes. Mr. Stokes wore the most shocking outfit, in my opinion. It was full sequined out, sparkling and shining in the light. The suit jacket was ripped open, exposing his bare chest. He sports multiple cross necklaces and a few chains.
