Why you should give Dark souls (saga) a chance :3

This is my first blog ever so i dont know how to start so... hi!

if you clicked here hopefully it was because you like games and have heard about the "Dark souls" saga BUT, you've been avoiding it for some reason. So in this Blog i shall be addressing about 3/4 reasons on why i think you could maybe like the "Dark souls" Saga :3

-Difficulty:

I think most of the people have heard about the difficulty of the souls saga, because for some reason this games keep getting some titles like "hardest game of the decade" or something like that. Now, while the this games wont take by the hand like other games do, truth is they also give you a lot of tools to use on your journey! tons of consumables, shops, rings, upgrading weapons AND armours, and even sourceries and pyromancies await you! of course, if you combine all of this while trying to learn the core mechanic of dodging in the game, you should have a very fun time with bosses hard enough to make you feel good when you defeat them but not enough to make you quit :D (just to give a comparison, hogwarts legacy, a game about being a magician, has 27 spells, while if you count miracles, hexes, sorceries and pyromancies you have 70+ options on the first Dark souls!)

-Bosses:

This kind of games are highly known for their bosses too, and i think they are pretty cool :D! imagine yourself fighting giant dragons, the god of death, the godess of chaos, a half spider half human lady, a giant iron golem, and many more adversaies each with exciting different set of moves and epic music to accompany them!

-Lore:

Now, this point is a bit controversial for some people, but i think its a valid point that could attract people to the game. So, you dont get told almost anything about the lore :). you find things out by advancing trough the game, saving Npcs and talking to them, also reading item descriptions and connecting dots. I (personally) think that this, is very cool, you only pay attention to the story if you really want to, and discovering a "puzzle piece" to fit that little bit of the story that was missing feels pretty neat, for example i've been doing a diary with drawings and lore according to my own playtroughs and no external help or yt videos, so its a lot of fun!

-Disclaimer about playing Dark souls:

With all of this said, i do think that dark should be played alone, maybe a friend or two so they can laugh at/with you, but no tutorials or tips on it will lead to a gratifying learning experience by the end of the game :3

Reminder that his is my first blog ever and i dont know if this is the kind of thing to post here, so forgive me if i've done any mistake on posting this.

Anyways i aprecciate feedback and opinions on any topic, and this is also my first time using this web, so try and be kind and patient please, hope anyone reading this has a very nice day and has changed his/her mind on giving this awesome saga a chance <3

Yes this is great, whilst soulslike are very difficult, they are so much more rewarding, even for small feats.

I’m glad you’re someone who appreciates the lore through npcs, descs, etc because I believe these games are so much more fun and charming just playing it and exploring everything too it’s extent. Nothing beats playing these games at night with headphones for hours and just taking everything in

And the bosses are an AMAZING part of DS (and soulsborne), not only are fights almost always insanely well designed, challenging and fun. Not to mention all the super cool lore behind all the characters you fight, and also amazing OSTs!

DS1:
Dark souls 1 for example has just a really nice vibe too it, and one of my fave things about it is it’s level connection, I feel like the others fail at that. It gives us charcters like Gwyn, Artorias, sif, SOLAIRE!!, O&S, etc etc. DS1 also gifts us with probably some of the best souls OSTs, like Gwyns and Sifs. Also prob my fave DS opening cutscene.

DS2:
Whilst I haven’t actually played this for myself, from all I’ve seen and looked into I can REALLY appreciate its art direction, through all the games flaws. I enjoy all its unique-useful mechanics, I enjoy the fact it’s sort of its own story, and Nashandra is a super cool, eerie character.

DS3:
My first soulsborne, but I like it a little less than ds1. but that dosnt stop me from thinking it’s also really good. My only problem with it is I just wish it stepped out its comfort zone a little more. But it’s home to some of my favorite bosses (Gael the GOAT), and again has some real good OSTs. It’s home to some amazing cutscenes too, but I just wish there was more!!

I could talk a lot more but I won’t, super cool blog & based souls fan :)

wow, that's a great post!

you might've just persuaded me to forget about my strained relationship with soulslike games. as much as i love their aesthetics, and overall lore and worldbuilding, i really do hate the game mechanics that are used in them. i actually wanted to try bloodborne in the future, when a pc version would be released, so in the meantime i may give the dark souls series a second try. thank you.

I am very glad i convinced you to actually try the Dark souls saga!
I actually wanted to talk more about the differences mechanics on each game (mainly the second one). I do want you to know bloodborne is a lot more frenetic and fast paced compared to dark souls 1 and 2, so maybe that change of rythm and mechanics will fit you more!
